Dragon Riding in future DLC?

Post » Sat Jul 02, 2011 9:54 pm

Riding dragons would not only be awesome, but it would change the way we would play the game. To be able to fly around Skyrim would make things easier and definitely give new aspects to the game. Maybe in the downloaded content if you did certain quests and/or learned a taming or befriending dragon shout you would be able to be companions with a dragon much like the companions in the Fallout series. Hopefully if they did this add-on they would also add mounted combat not only for horses, but for dragons as well. Also, aerial combat would be a major plus! Not only would riding dragons be fun but it might add some items to the crafting list such as a dragon saddle, harness/bridle, and maybe even armor. Another good idea would be "fly-to-areas" only. Maybe high mountain caves or over ocean locations which could strictly require the help of a dragon to reach. A small detail I was looking for in another game, Red Dead Redemption, was unmounted leading, or when you're walking in front of your horse (or dragon) and would use the bridle to lead them behind you, i figured it would be a good idea because eliminate some of the distance you feel between you and your horse (or dragon). Something they should really think about if they consider this idea is to add dialogue between you and your dragon, that way they would seem more real and it would give them more definition as a part of the game and as a character.

So what do you think?

Given to how popular the Akatosh mount was in Oblivion, I'm surprised Bethesda is not including dragon mounts in Skyrim.

Yeah... and I want a unicorn/camel hybrid (Camelcorn) named Mr. Jigglylicks who can fly at mach speed and impale my enemies. He also breathes rainbow lasers and wears a miniskirt.

It's so crazy it might actually work!

Yeah dragon riding would be awesome, and the Akatosh mount mod in Oblivion was really popular, but I still don't think they will do it.

if for the same reason they didn't put levietiation in oblivion then they won't put dragon mounts to soar over closed cities.

First, the "that" in your subtitle is unnecessary. Let Bethesda know we want to ride dragons would've been good enough. Read my sig for more information.

Second, I think it's an awful and cheesy idea. The closest thing I want to riding dragons is being clutched in their talons similar to the giant. We would then be dropped to our deaths or be able to cut our way out and hopefully fall a short, survivable distance.

WoW isn't what i was working towards. Besides, how many good games do you find where you can ride dragons? I only know of one and its on the PS3. These ideas do have specific TES aspects. Bethesda likes hiding things such as caves and what not, horse armor inspired my to think about dragon armor, my ideas on companions out could be carried over and improved from fallout. Its all there and its all pure TES all the way.

That is just preposterous, that needs to stop with all these ideas on riding dragons, This is getting very repetitive with this and that constantly reappearing from people who make these threads.

Thats it.

I think you should re-think your sub-title because your poll begs to differ.

yet you ignore the lore.

seriously - dragons are the enemy. we're in no way, shape, or form friendly with them - unless you want to talk about akatosh, and as a god i think he'd be a bit above being ridden like a common mule.

if this is what you call pure TES, i'd like to get off now. and frankly, fallout is - for me - an FPS with elements of RPG. which does not describe TES.
