Dragon Riding "not in the traditional sense"

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:48 pm

In the recent IGN article, Todd responded to the question about whether we could ride dragons saying "not the way you're asking". Ok, so no Dragon mounts, fine by me.

But, does that mean occasionally part of killing a dragon will involve latching on to their backs and stabbing them to death in an epic sky to earth plunge as they desperately try to shake us off the bloody ruins of their back? Then we land using their massive bodies to break the fall as they crash spectacularly into the ground with our sword/polearm pierced through their spinal tap?

That sounds pretty cool.

Or it could mean as part of the story we get to ride a dragon or get carried by a dragon but dont have control of the actual dragon.

But I like your idea more :)

Eww.

It could mean anything. Perhaps at some point in the story a dragon carries you somewhere, or perhaps you can actually turn into one. Perhaps like the example it happens while fighting too.

I was thinking along the same lines; although my other thought was that the dragon will pick you up and through you across the landscape ;).

It means you get to engage in intimate physical activities with a dragon. "Riding" a dragon, if you will.

Obviously.

Or possibly, there's a "finishing move" or two where you leap up on the dragon and "ride" it's corpse down to the ground.

Todd was clearly joking! Read the question before and after and you can see he was making a sixual joke! Basically, to spell it out for you...you can't have six with...aka "ride" the dragons!

IGN: Finally, a few silly questions. Is there a unicorn in Skyrim?

Todd Howard: That's DLC. For a hundred dollars.

IGN: Can you ride dragons in Skyrim?

Todd Howard: Not in the way you're asking.

Can you levitate in Skyrim?

Todd Howard: Another DLC. Three hundred dollars.

Maybe something "Shadow of the Colossus-like", at certain times?

I was looking for a video clip of "dragon riding" from Dragonslayer, but all the clips of that battle seem to cut that part out. Maybe because they're focusing on how cool Vermithrax is.

No http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/storage/41/85532/Rabbit_ADragonsFriend.jpg? :(

Jk. I don't care about riding dragons. When I first heard about dragons I cared about it, but when I realized which part dragons play in Skyrim - a big no to dragon riding.

I don't know how the dragons will be, but didn't they ue 2 years on making them unique omparred too other fantasy-games? I think they will be spectaular.

You people that say that they will include an option to "ride" a dragon should be ashamed :P

Since the dragon is so large (like a moving rooftop) and if you were on a cliff above a dragon you may be able to jump from the cliff and land on the dragon and ride it that way, if you could stay on top of it. im not sure how the physiics engine would handle that situation.

So actually riding a dragon like a steed is a no, but jumping on its back and going for a ride is a maybe, if your good enough with a controller/keyboard & mouse. I think thats what he was talking about.

Guys, guys, stop trying to anolyze what Todd said, he was clearly making a six joke in the clearly defined "joke" portion of the interview...

Because the dragon question was in the same bunch as two obviously sarcastic and sneakily nothing saying answers, I deem this post the right answer:

ok gutter minds, I don't think it is as "obvious" as you think that this is a sixual joke.. I mean really?? He mentioned something similar back in the podcast with Game Informer, basically denying dragons as a mount like a horse but leaving it open to other things.

when todd said riding but not in the way your asking he was joking todd joke was riding another slang word used for the word six so todd is saying no you will be ''riding'' having six with the dragon.
