Dragon Shouts - Thu'ums

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:39 am

Yep nothing that states the voice can't be used by another race, only that the practice is used by the Nords. Like I said, the Greybeards are the ones that teach this skill, they are probally selective about who they teach...

I agree the shouts and the voice are two sides of a coin, but it's the same coin.

Talos is the thing that bridges the two practices and mucks up the differences...

I think the only reason why Nords are expressed so is because Skyrim isn't really known for its diverse a motely population, Tiber established a College of Voice in as you already saw Markarth Skyrim, but there is also one -lorewise- in Cyrodiil City, but it was descredited, a reasonable notion would be the limited applicants it can be used for, but thats a notion. I still stand by my point that Thu'um and Dragon Shouts are not the same thing.

It's too murky...

Talos is this big elephant in the room. Was Tiber a master of the voice or using dragonshouts?
Or was Tiber using dragonshouts, and Wulfharth (disguised as Tiber) using the voice , ... Uh, I'm go eat something.

And possibly a shout that should be in the top 3. Some lead up. So you are fighting this incredibly tough NPC it pulls some spell at you that you didn't see comming or didnt block. Your life is on empty and your in bad shape, if only there was a do over... Time for dragon shout:

Reverse time: Reverse all world time back 3 seconds or strong reverse all game time 5 seconds.

And once I read this, I immediately thought hey if we get a shout that lets you see the intention of your enemy or control your enemy, we would have the trifecta to becoming a Jedi :o

So I would hope a 'force pull' is not there:)

Nothing wrong with having jedi like powers.

hoping for a dragon shapeshifting shout

(dragons in elder scrolls lore are rumored to be able to shapeshift in order to disguise themselves, rosh taka is also rumored to have succeeded in transforming into a dragon)

I don't want to shapeshift into the creatures I'm trying to destroy.

Hasn't a dragon shout been confirmed that actually summons a dragon to help you fight? Or was that just speculation on GI's part?

We also know there is a Shadow Step Shout (whispered) that warps you behind your target. Some other possibilities:

Grounding Shout: Forces any flying creature, even Dragons, to land for 15 seconds.
Dragon Fire Shout: An extremely powerful fire attack, also damages armour and weapons. Not effected by Fire Resistance.

I think something that disarms your opponent would be suitable.

OP, when the Dragon Shouts cause a target to fall, do they also drop their weapon(s)? If not, I think it would be a cool to have a call that could destroy enemy weapons, but could only be used once per day or something. It would have to be limited in some way.

Dragon sprint and dragon leap :D

Basically http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GF-Ch2BafQw, but each leap is a single shout, but the leap shout recharges fairly quickly (10-20 seconds).

Also, when in mid air you glide down to safety instead of just falling, kind of mimicking the way dragons glide through the air when they fly, except you can only go down.

And dragon sprint means you can just run incredibly fast for about 10 seconds, but takes a long time to recharge, and you can attack and jump while running too.

Udig?

That sounds sick, love to see it. If not, that's a mod for sure.

As in I'll make that f-ing mod.

Cheers :) I came up the idea as an alternative for levitation so it's not so overpowered and still makes sense in the game.

Also, some sort of stealth shout that's more of a whisper that detatches the camera and lets you fly around for about 10 seconds, to allow you to see around corners and find enemies so you can strategise. A sort of psychic ability in a way, so your body stays in one spot while you still control your vision. Can't remember the word for it though xD But it would be awesome in dungeons.

I don't think I would be too interested on having a shout affect my physical capabilities. I mean it would be kind of wierd to shout at my feet so I can run faster or jump higher. Some races already have once a day perks that affect their physical characteristics. I would think a shout would affect something other than the main character.

Upon thinking about the teleport/sneak shout. I think the mechanic works that the shout would stop time and you can walk in a world where everthing is still for 5 or 10 seconds. When you attack, time starts again. So that shout would then affect the world and not the character also.

well if theres no levitation spell....... dragon shout "WINGADIAM LEVIOSA" or whatever that harry pothead says.
What about a dragon shout that would totally obliterate an enemy, making them explode (only on weak enemies, and that annoying fan from oblivion)

Just came to me ;p, would add to the holy [censored] factor.

Shadow Shout: Basically allows a body (No matter how big you are) to sneak past (small entrances / enemies / avoiding projectiles) to a target location (Where you actually fit).

Did you avoid that dragon by entering a cave through a small crevice? [Dragon Shout here], that's weird, why are the walls moving? *DRAGON SWIPE*

*Light up torch revealing huge dragon*

*Fires Fireball*

*Dragon dodges completely [Leaving huge shadow particle/effect trail] and ends up behind you*

Useful sneaking spell and ends up for an entertaining dragon encounter XD.

Astral projection maybe?
I'm really anxious to hear about more of the shouts they come up with. Maybe another stealth one allowing you to teleport directly behind the target for a convenient backstab.
