Dragon soul bug : V

Hello.

I cannot unlock any shouts for some reason! I know the words for Fire Breath and Kyre's Peace, and I have 1 dragon soul, but every time I click to unlock, it tells me that dragon souls are required for this. I've tried using console commands, such as player.setav dragonsouls 1 but that still tells me that I can't as I don't have any dragonsouls.

Could it be because I defeated the drragon as a

How far are you in the mq? You actually have to be a good way through it. I forget how far, but i think it's after you meet the greybeards

You have to press a certain key to spend a Soul on a Shout. Look at the bottom left of the screen when you have selected the Shout you want. Rather than just selecting an unlearned Shout and the game thinking you want to unlock it it thinks you're trying to equip it so it tells you you need a Soul, even if you have one.

As the Vault Demon says, you may need to progress in the main questline.

If not....try the Square button (PS3 only) don't know what the pc or 360 equiv is

The default key when selecting a shout to unlock (if you have spare dragon souls) is the 'R' key. Simply press that and they'll ask you to confirm. If this doesn't work you might not be far enough through the main quest perhaps, otherwise it's probably a bug although i've never heard of such a bug.

I'm an idiot.

This is about my 4th game and I've unlocked Dragon Shouts before, rather than hitting R, I was just clicking on the shout with my mouse....

I'm gonna go hide in a hole somewhere until this thread is lost in the abyss
