Dragonborn or Dawnguard: which add-on do you prefer?

I assume both are available for the pc. I've just been reading some of your discussions about them elsewhere in this forum and got curious. At this point, I'm still playing Skyrim itself.

both are good. which one is better? i have done part of dawnguard. if you like being a vampire or killing them, well this willl do it. you can become a vampire lord, much stronger than the OB and morrowind ones.

haven't done the other DLC yet.

Dragonborn has better content, but i can play Dawnguard without being Dragonborn, so i usually prefer that. Also Gelebor.

I like the story in Dawnguard better but Dragonborn has much more content. You cant go wrong with either one.

Dawnguard is the better more important DLC when you take in how short guild questlines are in Skyrim. Especially when you only join one or two guilds for a particular character. Dawnguard was a must needed DLC that added length for a RP, memorable characters, new weapons, followers. Only the main quest in Skyrim is greater than the Dawnguard main quest.

Dragonborn on the other hand offers more exploration, all though inferior to the mainland. I felt dremer ruins were improved with a pretty creative dungeon where you travel with Neolth. Dragonborn shines with side quests and exploring a new land. It's main quest, Mirak, was terrible though, bards college level bad. So short the main quest was with a character like Mirak that wasn't fleshed out. My main hero warrior character felt like a pawn, a plaything for a daedric prince to be corrupted.

I feel that DB is the better DLC. It improves on many of the vanilla game's shortcomings with regards to world design and exploration.

Though as titus001 wrote, DG is what the vanilla guilds should have been like.

Both are good. But I prefer Dragonborn. Much more content. If you're only looking to get one, then Dawnguard. I fully believe DB is meant for last.

Im curious as to why you think Dragonborn improved world design and exploration compared to Skyrim.

I guess for starters it would be the dungeons. The dungeons in Dragonborn are a thousand times better than those in vanilla.

I expected to like Dragonborn the most but I found to my surprise that I liked Dawnguard much better.

I loved Bloodmoon, it is still my favorite Elder Scrolls expansion. So seeing my beloved Solstheim so ravaged and desolate was pretty depressing to me. But even more importantly, I thought Dragonborn's main quest was short and uninteresting. Its side quests were slightly better, but not enough to make up for the lack in every other area.

I was much more engaged by Dawnguard's story and NPCs. I think Serana is the best companion Bethesda has created yet. On top of that I thought the Soul Cairn and Forgotten Vale were much more interesting places to explore than Solstheim.

So I prefer Dawnguard.
