I know you can tame and ride dragons, but my question is can you ride the dragons off the island? I'm doubting no, but figured doesnt hurt to ask...heh.

You can ride dragons on the mainland (Skyrim).

You can't ride dragons to get to or from Solstheim (or into walled cities).

not to dampen your enthusiasm, but dragon riding was less fun then anticipated. If your expecting to see a dragon, shout at it and then ride it around Skyrim like your own personal horse... blasting at things from above. Your going to be disappointed.

Dragon riding only involves circling around the area you located the dragon in. You can travel across Skyrim but it requires you to bring up your map and fast travel to another place. Flight and fight... all rather clunky on the dragon.

Was still fun but not what I expected...

I never got that deep into the dragonbone DLC. It might've hurt to ride a dragon though.
