Dragonborn DLC Raven Rock crash

Post » Mon Jul 22, 2013 12:03 am

For some reason my game crashes whenever I try to simply enter Raven Rock. Since my house is in Raven Rock, and it is the only way to get to solstheim, this is a huge problem.

Have you the unofficial Dragonborn patch installed ????

Have you any mods ????

-------------------------------------------------if Yes,

The best thing to do would be to disable, and by disable I mean uninstall, all of your mods temporarily, and start a new game, with only the base game,

and official DLC, installed, and see if it crashes then, if it does, then you know it isn't the mods.

-------------------------------------------------However,

a significantly quicker, and far easier, thing you can do, that might or might not help, is use TES5Edit, and clean the DLC files of dirty edits.

The crashing could very well be caused by dirty edits Bethesda left in the DLC files, and cleaning the files will remove these dirty edits,

hopefully solve some issues you might be having.

I forgot to tell anyone that this is character specific. I have uninstalled all the mods and I have cleaned the DLC files with TES5EDIT, but none of that seems to work.

Thanks though.

What you can do is this....uninstall / install your game from scratch. (so delete remaining folders and saves as well)

No mods, so vanilla skyrim. Add your dlc's and your official Hd textures if you want.

Clean your load order after BOSS with Tes5edit.

Start your game in a appropriate resolution and if you hit level 5 you will have a fight with the cultist. (hitting level 5 is not a problem - it will take you 4 and a half hours...)

After that go to Windhelm and travel to Solstheim.

Maybe this time with a clean game installation you will not have such problems.

--------------------------------------------------

btw. i have done the same think.

I installed skyrim + DLC's + official HD mode + patches.

I am level 5 right now, but not traveled to Solstheim yet.

I play on 1360x768 in high settings. So far no problem encountered.

I even tried to play while downloading something but no problem occurred !!!!!

Decrease the value of ugrids back to 5, if you increased it.

It's the amount of grids to load (controls how much of the game world is loaded, increasing this will make the distant areas in the game look much better.)

and is controlled by the variable "uGridsToLoad" located in the skyrim.ini. - under the [general section]

And i think the default value is 5.

You absolutely need to change "uExterior Cell Buffer" and "uInterior Cell Buffer" as well if you're going to modify "uGridsToLoad"

(with appropriate values)

-------------------------------------------------------

But not change those values because you can mess things up and get ctd's very easily !!!!!!

(Those settings are intended to be used with powerfull PC configurations)

-------------------------------------------------------

beside that i think this variable does not exist and need to be added to bottom of the [General] section of the Skyrim.ini file to be implemented.

But again Bethesda strongly advises against this as it may lead to game instability. !!!!
