I got Skyrim back in December of 2011, finally got Dragonborn two months ago in order to use some mods that required it.
How in the world did this product pass QA/QC?
The location is great liked the story, liked the main quest, liked the side quests but the boss battle with Miraak was just unplayable. Multiple lockups into invulnerable mode, dragons staying too far away, killing dragons from dragonback and having the body be too far away for Miraak to absorb, the list of fails just kept getting longer. Finally got him to absorb all three souls being careful to not hit him with any powerful spells, definitely could not hit him with my halberd or perma-ethereal would occur. And again he locks up in an invulnerable boxing stance. Had to setstage advance the quest to 550, 580, 590 and then 600 in order to be able to leave the area and return to the world. Had to console command the combat music off as well. No loot, dragon souls or even conversation with Hermeus Mora, escape from this bug filled realm of fail was the best reward for me.
What was Bethesda thinking with this release? Thankfully I was able to read on the wiki how to attempt to console command Miraak into action and to finally just setstage my way to be able to complete and escape. What would someone do who did not go to the wiki in order to learn how to get out?
Seems like it would have been easier to just have multiple Miraaks for the final battle - kill one then have a new one spawn in and svck up a dragon soul. Repeat three times and then have another Miraak spawn in for impalement by Hermeus instead of trying to have the one Miraak attempt to achieve everything without glitching out.
