dragongeo2: Project Aedra

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:09 am

I think it would probably be more efficient if the guy in charge of Project Aedra had programmers and computer coders and script writers helping him out, though. Just my thoughts.

Not everything is about efficiency. I think it is actually a good thing that there is such a good diversity. If they have different ideas of this project let them do their thing. its not all about getting it done ASAP... If they wanted to team up and do the same thing they would have done it already. Please stop nagging modders and treat them like they dont have a clue. You do this for every project. Get over it...

One-man coding projects often do reach completion, even if many die off. Right now this is on the right track. A fancy wiki and website doesn't mean anything - many projects like that die off as well and it's usually due to internal "politics" taking over and people seem to forget why they started and get too wrapped up in the little details to continue working. I'm also going to assume OpenMW is to blame for this receiving virtually no attention - this is the first time I've even seen this topic or heard of the project. What's up with that? I really don't care who thinks what is better, fact is neither are finished and all unfinished projects are equal.

Dragongeo2 is more than capable of completing this on his own. He is constantly talking about his progress to some of us and his project is coming along nicely.

He must be constantly talking about his progress privately to certain people then. Otherwise there probably wouldn't be a 4 month gap between my post and the post on November 3rd by Papill6n. Which is kinda the same for PE, as I don't post in the thread on here that often even though I work on it everyday.

It certainly looks that way from the SVN commits and videos on YouTube. Great progress, and just as with OpenMW, I wish the project well and am following along in anticipation.

Hmm, I don't think it makes sense these days to work on alternative engines for Morrowind anyway. People try to improve worldbuilding and graphics with all means, but what for? Why all this effort for a game, where no new playable content is made for anymore. Beautiful game environment and good gameplay is a fine thing, but you can't be satisfied by staring at retextured mushrooms and trees only all day, can you?!

You never fail to miss the point.

Did DayWalker mean that if a new engine is used for TESIII, none of the mods we've made in the past 9 years will be playable on it? :o

No, what he's saying is that people aren't making new places to explore and things to do.

No, he meant there's no point cause we make no mods that extend the playability of the game, like quest mods, new landscapes and TCs etc.
He was probably just angry when he posted that, considering the complete, errr, wrongness of it. :ermm:

edit: :ninja:

No, he is actually saying the same thing as always: no one is making something totally not-Morrowind for Morrowind. Like an underwater futuristic fish kingdom or something :whistling:

I like how we all replied at once. Haaa, good ol' TDW and his controversial BS.

edit: And as the skyrim: home of the nords mod has been the subject of these 'why not work on just one' arguments before I can certainly sympathise with those who do not join OpenMW and start their own projects.
If multiple projects emerge there's a reason for it, and I'm rooting for all you guys.
