intresting.... building a new engine thats good. BUt I cannot find any information as to WHY this one is going to be better than OpenMorrowind?

Open Morrowind has aims and goals that it lays out for IMPROVEMENTs over morrowind. This one looks like its just recreating morrowind for the sake of creating morrowind?

Or have I completly missed something? I really hope that its going to offer us something more :)

While OMW will aim at cross platform support this will aim at Multiplayer support and when it has mimiced MW with some improvements will go on to other features making sure that it has all the bells and whistles of modern games.

There is already tesselation in the engine.

Looks like they're rolling their own engine from straight DirectX. Impressive they've gotten so far with that. I'd like to see it fully shadered.

You know I really never understand why folks want to turn Morrowind into Multiplayer - can just imagine trying to get into the door of Caius Cosades house and finding the room full of various races all handing him their secret package and trying to steal his skooma gear - or becoming the Nevarine and meeting another Nevarine I'd have to accuse him/her of being a false incarnate and deal to them - the only benefit I would see is inviting noobs to be your companion so they could be cliffracer bait.

I never saw multiplayer as open servers but more for LAN play and playing with a group of friends It could with no shadow of a doubt be much fun! Also it would mostly make sense if there was a quest invite system, and the team leader is exclusive to the main quest.

I can see how it could be lots and lots of fun!

Hmm, I don't think it makes sense these days to work on alternative engines for Morrowind anyway. People try to improve worldbuilding and graphics with all means, but what for? Why all this effort for a game, where no new playable content is made for anymore. Beautiful game environment and good gameplay is a fine thing, but you can't be satisfied by staring at retextured mushrooms and trees only all day, can you?!

So now we've got MW Open Source Engine Replacer Project #3! Well, at least that increases the chance that we end up with at least one finished project in the end.:P

Yeah, I'm quite curious how it will work out with all the global state in MW that really only applies to one player. If one player gets the codebook from Sottilde for the FG, what do the other players get?
In multiplayer it doesn't really make sense to pause during menu mode, but so much of the gameplay and so many scripts are built on the assumption that play is paused during menu mode.
How do you synchronize mods so that two players see the same stuff?
It would be interesting to hear what the plans are for all that.

Don't bo so gloomy TDW ;)

One huge difference is that many people have this as a get-away from rest of life. And you are very serious.
What's wrong with having fun?

Also I honestly think you are over reacting. There is a slow but pretty nice income of playable content.

+ I have yet to play through 10 or so of the big awesome quest mods out there.

EDIT: Oh and Rev59 is on Sourceforge.

r74 is up!

features:
*sky atmosphere rendering
*That little thing in the bottom-right above the minimap that shows where you are
*Raycast hit testing against collision objects or the terrain
*Mods support!
*Better streaming support when you're outside (uses waaaaaaay less memory)
*shaders:
depth of field thorough post-processing and MRT
per-pixel point lighting (they look much nicer than the per-vertex lighting which barely shows up in many places)
detail bumpmapping (hard to see in this video, but it's enabled)
floating-point render targets

I get the same problem as Bahamut . I've tried both x64 and x86 files but neither work. I have the latest directx and visual c++. I've setup my INI and so far the furthest I can get it is to the beginning of the title screen then it crashes. Anyone know of a fix?

This revision is broken for me as well. Rev.54 worked but only for vanilla. Let's have some patience, I/We have told him about the issue as far as we could get.

Speaking of rooting! revision 85 is out. This may or may not fix some of the problems people were having earlier. Let's hope it does.
