Dragonrend won't work on Alduin - mod conflict?

Post » Mon Sep 16, 2013 11:48 am

Hello all. I'm trying to complete the "Alduin's Bane" quest and ran into an issue I've never had before. Dragonrend simply won't work on Alduin. I know he gets hit by the shout because the blue glowy effect is on him, but he just keeps flying around like nothing happened. And since he needs to be grounded to be defeated, I'm stuck.

I tried reloading an earlier save (multiple times) to see if it was a random glitch, but it happens every time. I figure it's not a single mod causing the issue, or else it would be widely know. So it must be a conflict of some kind, though I have no idea what could be conflicting. Could someone please take a look at my load order (sorted by BOSS) and see if anything stands out? This is driving me nuts! :wallbash:

I don't see anything that stands out really. Just to check - you don't have Deadly Dragons combat behavior set as "never land"?

Nope, I have the combat behavior set to default. I suspected the conflict might involve Deadly Dragons, since that's really the only mod I have that specifically affects dragons, but I checked the mod's Nexus page and did some Google searching and couldn't find anyone reporting a similar issue. So I'm at a loss.

Does he land by himself? or is he always flying?

He has landed a few times in my various tries and I think, "Yay, it's working now!"... only to be heartbroken moments later when he takes off again, with the Dragonrend effect still on him.

Not sure if it matters, but I also noticed a few times that Paarthurnax seems to lose interest in the fight and go back to his perch, leaving Alduin to have at me. It's been a while since I played this quest so I'm not sure if that's vanilla behavior.

I dont remember this being a big issue for me and I am a fan of "Dragonrend" so I don't think it is vanilla behavior...

I am trying to remember my fight with him... Try change the behavior in Deadly Dragons to the land more preset (Can't remember the actually name?) None of the mods you have should even tough the shouts and other than deadly dragons they dont even modify them.

Did you try uninstalling deadly dragons and seeing if you can use the shout than with more success... This well let us know if it is at least that mod or not..
