Dragons are the New Cliff Racer! but worse...

Post » Sun Jul 28, 2013 1:53 pm

I found Cliff Racers to be a very minor annoyance, but i found Dragons to be a huge one.

Cliff Racers:

Initiate combat while staying up high where you can't reach them.

Dragons:

As tough as any other creature.

Flies around looking cool for a very long time, while initiating combat. (you think dragons would be a bit more aggressive, but NOOOOO!)

Leaves Glitchy huge bodies.

Comes to frequently.

Dragons are not really deadly creatures, they just look cool.

Yeah they're cool, except when they're flying backwards.

Yeah, they really should have toned down the dragons a bit. The first couple were awesome, but eventually it just got to the point where I didn't feel like a badass anymore for killing them, and then they were just a time-sinking annoyance.

Disagrees with thread's name...

Also, dragons flew backwards? I've never saw that... Then again, never had that patch. I went from 1.0 to like 1.7 (Or something like that. It's the patch required for Dawnguard. Never bothered updating Skyrim until Dawnguard add-on).

That was the 1.2 patch, and Beth pushed 1.3 out quickly to fix it.

I played this game quite a bit, but never got to see this, although I did hear that they existed. Consider yourself lucky for being able to see this before they were patched out of existence.

This is so incredibly wrong.

1. Dragon fights are fun. Or at least can be.

2. They drop high end loot.

3. Cliff Racers were so numerous in Morrowind that you could not walk from one end of the map to the other without fighting at least 30. In Skyrim you can walk from Solitude to Riften and not fight one dragon.

I knew which patch the glitch was from, was just saying I never got to see it myself.

I hate how they attack you only when they feel like it. You could have a dragon hovering only a hundred feet away and it won't be hostile, but sometimes when you least expect it a dragon just pops out from miles away to attack you. Trolls I say!

Dragons aren't that annoying for me, unless they kill off npcs who got caught in their line of fire. I actually enjoy killing them, and their bones make for good weapons/armor.

Dragons appear more frequently with fast travel use. I never fast travel, and I only see them occasionally, and never inside the walled-off towns. If I happen to need dragons for bones, souls or whatever, I have to go chase them down at their lairs.

Yeah 1.3 came out like a week later. I also never got to see them, because I heard the patch was broken before I downloaded it. Went right from 1.1 to 1.3.

Nothing is more annoying than Cliffracers, even Glarthir and the Adoring Fan. Cliffracers drove the Dragons out of Vvardenfell. Dragons have never given My character a Disease.

Unlike Dragons, Cliff Racers attacked you the majority of the time.

I don't think Jiub actually drove the cliffracers out of Morrowind, I think they just followed the Nerevarine all the way to Akavir (hence him never being heard from again, and the Akaviri not doing anything lately). Jiub just stole the credit.

I played Morrowind with the Sound and graphics Overhaul mod and with the fog gone the beautiful vistas of Morrowind are tainted with those ugly creatures flapping their wings in the distances :stare:

So true. Cliff racers were so much worse. Any time I ran anywhere there were like 10 of them following me at a time, carrying diseases...

Same here - I turned auto-update in Steam off literally in the nick of time. :D

What was even worse about 1.2 than the backward flying dragons was the total breaking of elemental resistances.

Not even close. I actually enjoy fighting Dragons and at least they come down with haste, not to mention you can forcefully bring them down through shouts. Cliff Racers I have to wait 20 minutes for them to finally reach my height level so I can slash them.

Lore wise: Cliff Racers are worst than dragons. How bad? They drove the dragons out of Vvardenfell.

But game wise: Dragons can be annoying, especially if you fast travel to Winterhold.

Ah yes. That part where you shout Dragonrend at them, land on the College Balcony, run to the college. By the time you're there its already back at the city...

Bethesda cant just seem to make a game where there aren't this annoying boss thing. I never played morrowind but everyone goes on about these cliff racers, ill take your words for it. But i did play oblivion went through plenty of oblivion gates and like dragons they're cool the first couple of times, then they get old quick. I just ended up avoiding the main quest that triggers these events in second characters.
