Hopefully you don't have to enter them and then close them in order to destroy them.

I would rather see dragons to be like Skyrim's Daedric shrines (but still have Daedric shrines in Skyrim). Instead of completing a quest for a Daedric prince, a citizen of Skyrim asks you to slay a dragon for whatever reason.

I wouldn't mind if there's like dragon-like lieutenants you will have to take down during your advancement through the main quest, or side quest too. Each lieutenant could be a whole mission in it self, with getting to him and all. Kind of like the targets in Assassin's Creed.

I'm sure the dragons will be killable at an early level stage, therefore easy.

I can't imagine Bethesda making the dragons so hard that kids have to play for more than 4 hours before they can kill one.

You only get to slay two big dragons in DAO plus another in the expansion. The post said "many of them" :).

If Dragons are the new Oblivion gates does this mean you will go into them and steal a gem from it? :o

P.S: Seriously though I don't feel that way, they say dragons are common ingame and you'll see lots of them...oh wait, OB gates had those features as well

My educated guess is that the first few storyline dragons won't be one-on-one fights - you'll have some assistance and you won't take all the credit for it. Beyond a certain point, they'll be level-scaled solo jobs and you'll be labeled the Hero of Skyrim (as you were the Hero of Kvatch in TES4).

Oh Zing!

Judging by my mix and match knowledge from the few scans I've seen, there will be lesser dragons, and dragons that could make Beowulf cry. The lesser dragons will be the "oblivion gate" if you will and likely not too difficult and likely just acts like a normal enemy creature, and then the other dragons will be town destroying beasts that will burn everything Skyrim down and will be more varied and spread out, and likely much harder, unless Level Scaling is as messed up... But again this is just knowledge I got from about 7 scans and of-which the most of the text is blurred out and to the point it is hardly readable.lol

I don't like it, but what can I do.

I don't know... reading the synopsis of the quest indicates to me that the player meets a dragon that he can't defeat at first. So maybe they won't be difficult.

Hopefully it will be harder to defeat a dragon than close an Oblivion gate. I at least want it to be a "rite of passage", of sorts. Maybe the first time you kill a dragon you're supported by allies and such.

...unless they want dragons to feel epic, in the truest sense of the word. Bethesda markets their games as being truly epic, which will in no way be accomplished by poking a dragon to death the second yo step out of the prison, or wherever you come from in this game. Oblivion gates were that way, and people complained heavily. The devs have learned from their mistakes, that much we already know. I don't want to be capable of killing dragons until several hours in, and not without prior planning and tactics. Dragons should by no means be easy.

Hey guys, I've got a great idea! Lets be negative about every possible thing that makes this game, because of the mounds of information that had been given to us by a couple pictures and descriptions.

Better idea: stop basing irrational and negative hypotheses off of your irrational fears about this new game. Don't you think they haven't heard you all whine about this the first time?

Totally agree with u. Some people can be so dumb

Gold, scrolls, maybe a few soulgems, Dragon Scales, and a random piece of enchanted jewelry, of course.

The idea of dragon pearls from Star Wars is also kind of neat.

Yep. Dragons will fill the same gameplay role as Oblivion Gates did in Oblivion. You'll need to take out a few as part of the main quest, a few more as part of assorted sidequests, and the remainder will serve as random challenges that provide rewards of power once they are overcome.

Now this may or may not be a bad thing. Hopefully Beth can make a one-on-one fight with a dragon a bit more compelling than a slog through some seemingly random lava-dungeon world over and over.

Oh come on now, man. If you didn't like going through the planes of Oblivion (which imo were pretty cool, what the heck did you want it to be like? Flowers and unicorns?) then DON'T DO THE DANGED MAIN QUEST! There is PLENTY of other things to do! Frick killing dragons if you think that's stupid! Why complain??

They better be very strong...

To quote Tamrielic lore:

Black Marsh was once known to be inhabited with what the Argonians called the Wamasus. Northern men considered them to be intelligent dragons with lightning for blood. One such mighty beast, Haynekhtnamet, was slain by the Northern men, though it took 7 days and nights, and a score of men. One of the surviving men took a fang home as a trophy. The fang was carved down into a blade and fashioned into a small dagger. The Dagger mysteriously houses some of the beast's magical properties and grants the user the ability to do shock damage on an opponent. This unique Dagger is seen occasionally by traveling heroes.

7 Days, and lots of men... And you are only one person. This better be incredible fights.

I loved that dagger back in Morrowind! I stumbled upon it as a lowly rogue, and have treasured the electrifying properties ever since.

Back on topic: You are exactly right. If you want to kill these things you better either be powerful, or have an army backing you up. Dragons are supposed to be frighteningly powerful, and I fully expect Skyrim to deliver the homage these mythical beasts deserve.

Wow, way to join just to insult people.

Anyway, so much for Dragons being rare and sacred. :sadvaultboy:

I hope the Dragons will be more of "Holy [censored] a Dragon, Run!" then "Oh a Dragon, might as well get out my sword"
I want to fear them if Im not ready to fight them.
