Dragons - Far to easy to defeat (expert)

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 11:17 am

Does anyone else find this to be the case?

I was expecting them to be much much harder. I have no taken damage from a dragon in the last 4 occasions. Far to easy to beat.

In fact in some cases i could easily have with into an inn, had a cuppa tea and some soup while my friends defeated the dragon.

I am not even that far into the game. Level 14.

Fire dragons and frost dragons are kind of easy yes.

Later you will encounter Blood, anchient dragons, those are tougher, sometimes even difficult.

I have to say, my main char is a nord, and when a dragon uses frost attacks, they dont harm me AT ALL..

I think the dragons have heard about the dragon born and are purposefully hiding. They are big scaredy cats.

There's a vid on youtube of a horse and some mudcrabs making a Dragon look like a right wuss. Scenes like this make me think you are right.

I have to say they ain't much of a challenge, even on expert, I find a couple of good hits from a 2h weapon whislt stunning them with Unrelenting force is a sufficient tactic to slay the beasts. The real challenge is getting them down to the ground without archery or destruction. I did however try killing a dragon with my fists, got a couple of good shots in before it fried me like a chicken LOL

The whole difficulty thing is out of whack... because it pretty much has to be. If the goal is to make an encounter with a mudcrab remotely exciting and make an encounter with a dragon remotely survivable, you can't have that much difference between the two. The "action" you seek is better found in an ARPG rather than TES.

Yep. This kinda bothers me. Killing a dragon with a small iron sword and no skill whatsoever, shouldn't be so easy. Giants are the real threat to Skyrim, not dragons. It took me much longer before I could face a giant and survive.

Fire Dragons, Blood Dragons, and Frost Dragons are pretty easy. But Ancient Dragons? *Shudders* No.. No they are not easy.

I 100% agree. I avoid giants at all costs. I did kill my first the other night though only to find i did not have a big enough soul gem to store soul. What size do i need? Giant?

Sabre Tooth cats cause me more problems than Dragons.

You say that but I sneak attacked a giant and one hit him. Now if you would've said 'old ladies are the real threat of Skyrim' I would've agreed. I snuck up behind one old dear, hit her and she procedded to turn around kick my [censored]. Hell hath no fury like an old woman having her afternoon nap interuppted

edit:

And agree with he above poster. Dragon? svck my balls. Giant? Get out of my sunlight sonny. Sabre cat or bear? Run [censored] run!

I'm Level 14 on Adept and they still scare the [censored] out of me. I haven't really stayed on the cutting edge of weapon technology (still rocking Leather Armour and a Steel Axe), but they can kill me fairly swiftly. Those Blood Dragons are ridiculous, they soak up Arrows and close distance extremely fast. I'm enjoying it though, makes it a challenge. I'm sure I'll start owning them once my Smithing and Enchanting are better (I'm not exploiting though).

I use a Level 28 Samurai sword, its not enchanted. Its like a knife through butter when taking on a dragon. Plus my girl buddy is armed to the teeth with a giant sword and class armor. She kicks ass

im on master as destro at 37 and i find them to be a bit of a challenge but not too much. blood dragons up are much harder though. What they need to do is put a Scale on Dragon difficulty that scales separably from our overall game scale. I know my GF has trouble on Apprentice with them so its good for having toggles.

Also is should increase much past master difficulty. I would enjoy increasing dragon health by 200% and damage up by 50%. Even though i already get 1 shot if i forget to heal i remember my first random dragon encounter took me 1.5 hours to do successfully and first blood dragon about 2 hours. I want that again. Keeps me engaged for a long time but of course its a preference. maybe someone can mod it?

If you play on expert, and you're only level 14, then you're sure as hell abusing the gently caress out of some bug if you truly have this easy time with dragons.

I agree, I'm going to have to get into the Creation Editor and upgrade their health by at least double, probably triple it. Riverwood defeated a dragon with only a small amount of arrow fire from me on the highest difficulty (Master?).

I'm having difficulty fighting blood dragons one on one (read: they kill me), but below that they're quite doable, I'm now level 19 on expert. I did kill a blood dragon when he was also busy fighting a draugr overlord.

I thought that the dragons are easy (expert), but I wasn't fighting them alone. However, when I meet one alone, though I'm level 28 I stand no chance. Note that on level 28 dragons are higher level too.

I am only level 14 and it is as easy as i say it is on expert.

I have that girl with me who has great armor and uses here bow and great sword a lot. I would also use the flame dude to do extra damage, The dragon is finished with in a few minutes.

I have 5 dragons souls stored and nothing to unlock with them

For me I've been having some very fun fights against the stronger dragons that show up at levels 30+, but I'm not abusing weapons smithed/enchanted for values waaaay over 100 effective skill.

They do have one huge flaw that can't be fixed without them being impossible for the average player. Dragons lack the ability to keep up the damage. They fly around breathing fire and frost, then land for some melee and do it all over. There is allot of breaks in the action that allows the player to use potions and restoration magic to recover the lost HP and thus erase the progress the dragon has made.
