Dragons= Friends?

It could go like
dragon: "mmmmm I smell good food"
Nord searches pockets:"thats strange I don't have any food"
dragon sniffs: "smells like chicken"

Where'd you get that?

Once again (from me this time, not Warnek), there is an edit button. And http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Akatosh http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Alduin http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Varieties_of_Faith...

Akatosh (Auri-El to the Aldmer and Alduin to the Nords

Plus it was said somewhere (GI article or hub) as well.

thats not what I mean at all, does the entire plot have to be humorous just for this one thing to be?

No offense, but WTF is with you trying to turn Skyrim into a comedy? I hate to reiterate this, but go watch 'How to Train Your Dragon' if you want the riding of friendly dragons, and what is supposed to be humor. Please, leave it out of Skyrim.

Depends, does this one thing HAVE to be implemented? It doesn't? Then that kind of makes your question irrelevant as Bethesda wouldn't cheapen ANY part of their game with lame humor just to implement a feature that many people don't want anyways.

And to Mr. Alduin is a god, I didn't get this one little bit of obscure lore right, sue me. And I wonder about another obscure bit of lore, how the frick do you defeat a god, is that where all those fireballs go when i shoot them into the sky?

now why does it cheapen the game to add humor in a few nooks and crannies and if you look closely at oblivion you'll notice rare, obscure bits of humor that don't compromise the game. and stop with the wise cracks Im not suggesting a lot just riding a dragon and blowing stuff up would be awesome/epic and how to train a dragon svcks crap, a lot of it. How do you defeat Jyggalag? You just do. Maybe it has something to do with him being in Mundus, and therefore vulnerable? Or maybe you don't have to defeat him, just drive him back. That is the thing about TES, they just make it up as they go along. :)

Edit:

if taken stone cold serious this is a lame idea but add a little humor:
select action: compliment
"ooh you look quite nice today"
"thats very nice of you cheeseburger, err, I mean adventurer"

How is this a rare, obscure bit of humor? Honestly, this is on par with "How to Train Your Dragon". I hate to sound like a broken record, but Dragons + Humor = How to Train Your Dragon

He seems to have left. At least he decided to replace double posting with quoting himself lol. But I will say that this:

Im not suggesting a lot just riding a dragon and blowing stuff up would be awesome/epic

is completely counter intuitive. How is suggesting that adding voices, dialog, the various background quests needed to befriend a dragon, a method for riding the dragon, and blowing things up on it not suggesting a lot? Even just the riding and blowing things up is a lot to add to a game.

I honestly thing that if there is even a remote thing of dragons helping you it would be because you somehow have enslaved them to your will.

Alduin is "god-like" not an actual god, its referring to his power
Alduin is a god; he's a personality of the time god. Same with Auriel and Akatosh. All three are the same time god, only a different personality. In fact, Akatosh is a relatively new view of the time god, not to mention a [censored] POLITICAL MOVE! Alduin and Aruiel are the original forms of the time god, set pre-Mundus. Akatosh was created when Alessia didn't want to abandon the merish pantheon the slaves grew up with, but also to not piss off the nords who just liberated them. Then the Mukari Selective danced on the tower to try and eliminate the merish aspects of the time god. However, it isn't truly known if it worked, and if it did, which aspects.

Funny, people will argue this point about the time god, but never argue against the space god Shor is Shezarr is Lorkhan.

They're on a mission to destroy the world. What time do they have for friendship?

I hope they aren't all that one dimensional.

I think there should be a few dragons that are more than just one dimensional villains.

To elaborate, using RL examples, think of the dragons as such: dragons are to Alduin, what angels are to God.

In those stories, not all angels obey God.

They are not mindlessly killing, they are killing with a purpose.

This. I'm honestly shocked so many people want one dimensional dragons.

They are more ways to add dimension to the dragons than just adding good ones. Dragon society could be fractured. In addition to seeking to destroy the world some portions of the dragon, for lack of a better term, nation could be seeking advantage over the others. They could seek to use you as a pawn. There are plenty of ways of doing while still staying true to there ruthless portrayal.

since when have villains only ever been one dimensional?

To the op, there is a game coming out for xbox 360's kinect sensor where you will be able to train your very own dragon and ride it into epic battles, i am probably gonna buy that, but i would rather have my skyrim dragons be exactly how todd howard has already said they are gonna be. seriously what is up with people wanting all these features that have already been confirmed not to be in, like skyrim isn't gonna be good enough as it is or something!

They have weekends.

Riding, mounting, befriending, enslaving . . . how far away is the "Can I romance a dragon?" thread?

I don't want to befriend them, but at least talk to them.
I hope they don't just go roar roar roar. They have their own language - use it once in a while, spikey!
