Dragons= Friends?

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 3:07 am

Good News: This is possible in a respect, you can call upon dragons as a dragon shout.

Bad News: While this would work in some other fantasy game, perhaps in morrowind as an easter egg, THe entire point of Skyrim is to slay ALDUIN, a giant god of Destruction/Rebirth who has according to the trailer "a Hunger to swallow the world". THis would make you pretty unpopular amongst dragons, not to
mention them being slammed back into whatever ( I'm probbalbly wrong here, I svck at lore) weird Dimension they came from (LIke in Terry Pratchett)

You don't befriend dragons, you tear their guts out.
Is this really that hard to grasp?

They're here to kill everyone. Especially you, since you're Dragonborn... the last of the Dragon hunters. That's not really a good background to create a good relationship with dragons... :flamed:

Sorry, but in my opinion, Dragons != Friends*. I think they are enemies and should remain so.

*or Dragons =/= Friends, which ever you like

Ok, let's be serious.

They are dragons at the service of Alduin, whose intention is to set the world on fire. Yes, they are intelligent, but they are doing what the have to do: destroying the world.

Now, you are the last Dragonborn, the saviour of Mankind, the only one able to defeat Alduin and save the world. You're a killing-dragon machine.

Would you be friend of somebody that wants you dead? I don't think so.

now why does it cheapen the game to add humor in a few nooks and crannies and if you look closely at oblivion you'll notice rare, obscure bits of humor that don't compromise the game. and stop with the wise cracks Im not suggesting a lot just riding a dragon and blowing stuff up would be awesome/epic and how to train a dragon svcks crap, a lot of it. Nosirrah422-signing out (really)

Yes... nah, you are not asking for anything at all, just a little bit...

Did you know that the mainquest is about dragons (and not in the way you want them, luckily)? Did you know that turning into a dragon would have no sense? And did you know that it's the time of saving the world via KILLING dragons, not joking with them?

Oh, BTW, "How to train you dragon" rocks, but it shouldn't be mixed with Skyrim.

If they are intelligent they must have mercy/respect/feelings, such is a basic fact

Wrong

EDIT: Okay, just finished the thread, and what is with this guy? He wants Skyrim to be filled with friendly dragons who make primary school jokes (And moronic Nords who think if a dragon smells food, it's in their pockets) and repeatedly states "facts" that are completely wrong without any backing!

Okay forget everything ive said to this point, riding and not just summoning a dragon would be epic. I'll leave it to the great minds at Bethedsa to work out all the story/reasons that you can ride one, and please stop with the "how to train your dragon crap" I'm just saying in a world as vast and non-stupid as skyrim it would be cool to fly around, maybe blow some stuff up, and ultimately just cool to ride a dragon that isnt gay (like they are in how to train your dragon) and airborne combat sequences would just be plain awesome.

Dragons HATE you. What is so difficult to comprehend? You cannot ride your enemy! And as far as I know, Skyrim doesn't aim to awesome air combat! Seriously, people can suggest ideas, but they have to fit with the game! Driving a Panzer WOULD be assume, but I don't want it in Skyrim...

seriously you simply don't get it do you? Having an idea for something that could be added to the game is one thing, but having an idea that completely DOES NOT FIT within the context of the game and then moaning when people don't like your idea is another. YES it would be awesome to ride a dragon, but NOT IN SKYRIM! As i have said and you completely chose to ignore there is a game already coming out like that for xbox 360's kinect sensor, if you want to play riding a dragon that badly buy one of those and a copy of the game, it's from the makers of panzer dragoon so it should be epic, i will be getting it. You are also very ignorant ignoring my earlier post, so please look at your own actions before having a go at other people. thankyou

there's always the idea of shapeshifting into a dragon by means of a dragon shout.

in elders scrolls lore, the dragons themselves are rumored to have shapeshifting abilities to disguise themselves and rosh taka has also been rumored to have succeeded in transforming himself into a dragon.

sometimes beating fire with fire is the best way to do it.

or in this case, firebreath vs firebreath :flamethrower:
