Dragons have the attention span of a rat with ADD

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:04 pm

Whenever I engage a dragon in battle it starts off great with an epic battle between a legendary beast and a great hero. Then the dragon takes flight, sees a single lone bandit 500 miles away and completely forgets about me and hauls ass to the bandit. I have had SIX dragons run away usually near death or half dead to go fight something thousands of feet away. Sometimes its alright in that he only flies a short distance away or flies down a flat field, but this is rare. I just get pissed when I am on a mountain, and the dragons flies ALL the way to the other side to engage a [censored] wolf over me. Its getting annoying.

since my character is weak in direct combat, this kind of distraction is actually appreciated. but it makes no sense immersion-wise, thats for sure.

Has only happened to me once, and the dragon came back after spanking the bandits. :celebration:

While I have never had a dragon fly more than 100-200ft away to engage another target, I do agree that they seem to kill everything except you first, and it is kind of silly. I think using a dragon shout should send your agro through the roof, as the dragon should certainly identify that you are the Dovahkiin and should be dealt with first.

Yeah one frost dragon breathed all over me, then turned around and breathed on a mammoth behind it, then breathed on a giant, then literally froze Lydia to death.
Poor Lydia :(

I have had a dragon fly so far away it went out of sight for miles, I never did find it again and have no idea what it went after. Then there was the time it went after my horse, which runs faster than it flies so it chased FAR away. I lost both a horse and a dragon that day.

lol this has happened to me quite a few times, quite annoying when your near a town and are like "ugh, thanks for aggroing your own death noobs, now i have to save your dumb asses". the reverse has happened as well though; i came upon a dragon fighting a giant, then all of a sudden i get a face full of fire and im fighting the dragon. the real kicker is that the giant walked to the sidelines and just watched the fight...

honestly, it creates far too many hilarious and awesome situations for me to really be annoyed by it; that time where a dragon took off to fight some mudcrabs only to retreat in defeat unable to kill any of them was the greatest thing ever...

when your ticked off you tend to not notice things and have an erratic attention span. and in case you didnt notice dragons seem pretty ticked at well generally everything.

Oh god I get that aggroing your own death feeling ALL the damn time. Like when wolves persistantly pursue me through hell and back. Really? I know animals run off of instinct, but when a 7:2 block of muscle wearing armor made from dead DRAGONS with a bow made of demonic metal runs through my general area. I take care not to piss him off.

If I was cornered by an individual known to be an expert at slaying my race and I desperatly wanted to kill him I wouldnt fly around pissing of everything near me, giving him the advantage of allies and time to shoot me in the ass while I make others angry.

Back on my first save I had a random dragon absolutely owning me before having a sudden change of heart mid battle, flying off into the distance never to be seen again. They also love to take on giants and trolls, and often lose in straight melee fights.

this has happened to me quite a few times, but I usually kill the dragon with a bow while its distracted by other enemies. another thing I find annoying is when a dragon flies in your area for about 5 minutes, with you shooting at it, and then it just flies away without even noticing you. what a waste of my time!

I had one that just flew away at about a third of it's life. Just got up, said "Screw you guys, I'm going home" and flew away. I tried chasing it, but I lost it.

Did lead me in the direction of another dragon though.
