I hardly think the creature the game is basically based around could, "ruin the game." Dragons are fine. I say keep them how they are.

the only thing im worried about is that more than likely the dragons might be nerfed for the console version. im just hoping they dont make them as easy on the PC version.

No worries, that's a baseless concern. And if they seem too easy, the difficulty slider's always a nice way to go about it.

There's nothing about a PC that makes combat against something like a Dragon easier on it than on a console, you know?

I play on both consoles and PCs (like a lot of you guys), and you can attest that the biggest difference is in how rapidly you can select abilities (irrelevant in TES, as the game pauses or you can hotkey it), and twitch-based combat (especially in shooters).

You don't need to be that good at twitch based combat for Oblivion. It's first person, yeah, but it's not like a Battlefield game or something.

so long as there arent to many on the map at any given time (any more than 3 is overkill) im fine besides you can turn there size power and even there ability to fly against them. how you ask? i wont be telling you or anyone :)

^^^ THIS ^^^
Dragons should be the most fierce and by far hardest to kill enemies in the game.
Everything else should be but a pale shadow in comparison to their might. They
are not just another mindless undead, zombie or animal out there. They are very
intelligent, cunning and powerful and this needs to be reflected in their ways to
fight. The certainly have the looks, we know that far after the videos released.

:stare:...you cut off the charmander part. ...you saying you don't like charmander?!

WHAT? AggrgR!! I canceled my preorder! I thought that you could 1hit kill a dragon, and it will have a full daedric set for you to loot in it.

/sarcasm

Dragons ARE dragons after all.. you know, I mean, if I say that something is like a whale, you know its big, if I say its like a chetah, you know its fast.. but if i say it's like a dragon.. you know it kicks ass :toughninja:

I want a challenge (I can't wait to get Dark Souls next month), but I also am wondering how I'm even going to fight these things. Being a primarily melee character, I don't know if just shouts are going to be enough to take these things down to the ground without having to do something as boring as waiting inside a giant structure acting as a shield for 3 minutes as my shout recharges, or something. It's not challenge I'm worried about, but rather the viability of my playstyle against flying, lesser Aedra.

Honestly, if they don't have an automatic 50% absorb damage and 50% absorb magic on top of extreme armor, regeneration, the ability to breathe fire, the ability to fly, enough damage output to make an M1 Abrams drek itself, and maybe some innate spellcasting... then I'll be disappointed.

Really, these things should make you quake in fear. Not make you think, "mmm, dinner!"

As long as there's a good mix of weak and strong dragons, I'm happy. If they're all way stronger than the player to insanely way stronger, that might not be as fun.

Part of learning to play the game is learning what skills dragons have and how to deal with them. Sometimes "run away!" is the proper way to deal with them.
^This^
I'm a whimp when it comes to boss fights, but I've learned to use environments to advantage, one example would be that tower where Todd summoned the storm, if I'm not doing well I'd hide in the base of the tower, the dragon might not leave but it gives breathing room to think out a strategy.

Todd was probably half-assing it, so he could show more fight details to the audience. I bet if he was alone and playing like he meant it, he would call in the storm and hide in the tower until the spell was over and then combat the weakened dragon. We must also be fair, Tom had been up there all day and was probably in a bit of a hurry to get it over with, becoming more casual in his play and more rushing/barbarian tactics.

The dragons SHOULD be over-powered. They should be a challenge, hard to over-come.

1. It was a Demo.
2. It could be on Easy-Very Easy difficulty.
3. Mods.

I remember the last game that had me like that. Fallout New Vegas when I first discovered a Quarry filled with DeathClaws and DeathClaw Alphas, at level 6.
The first thing I did was run for my life.

I will be seriously angered if dragons aren't as strong or stronger than the Gatekeeper. I'm very happy level scaling is gone, but I'm worried that dragons will be nerfed because Bethesda doesn't want noobs being killed easily during the main quest.

Todd Howard had a character with 999 health and the dragon managed to take it down by half. HALF! the average character wont get past that for a long time and we are expected to kill dragons? They can fly around too so you need to have a bow or a spell on you too. These seem like they will be very hard to kill. I kind of like it though, A true challenge few RPGs have

A character all boosted up in warrior mode will have high health, and his magical counterpart will have spells for deflecting fire, frost, damage etc. You will need a powerful character. But that is as it should be for beating down a dragon. Having said that, the character who beats down a dragon had better be able to kick the asses off of a half a dozen goblin warlords at the same time, to hell with all that "overpowered hero" talk. If you cant kill eight marauders/guards singlehanded, every dragon you meet should eat you for lunch.

They're god damned dragons, they've always been the most OP mofos outside of anything that isn't a demigod or stronger in pretty much all fantasy.
