Dragons.

Post » Sun Aug 07, 2011 2:14 pm

I'm gonna go ahead and call that one right now. The dragons are being ridiculously overhyped.... I wish that developers wouldn't do this cause it kills the magic of the features of the game.

Why not tell us less, and really deliver the goods?

Instead its "DRAGONS DRAGONS OMFG DRAGONS!!!!!! UNSCRPTED OMG"....

Seriously, gimme a break. They'll be fun, no doubt. And then.... That's it.

Although I'm sure the vast majority will disagree with you, I'm agreeing with you here. They're awesome and all, but after the first few it'll be the same old stuff. To be honest, I just want a whole new world to explore in a whole new Elder Scrolls game. If dragons happen to be a part of that then cool, but I'd rather go exploring and killing random bandits and doing random side quests rather than battling them.

I never really understood what dragons contributed to the fantasy genre. I mean, they were nice in sagas and poems because they were just dragons - not a shape that perfect beings transform into. It's like teenagers and their obsession with wolves.

I'm definitely looking forward to them. Its one of those classic creatures that's just so rare in videogames. And having them actually done well in a video game, a whole 'nother story.

I'm sorry, what? I'm in high school now, and nobody is obsessed with wolves. Hell, I don't even think I heard the word "wolf" brought up by anybody, for any reason my Freshman year.

I don't know what you're reading but I don't feel overhyped about the dragons. Here's a link to a new article with a video screen paused on the page. The screen shows Dovahkiin with his shield raised and the dragon. Look at the size of that dragon's head compared to Dovahkiin. I mean, wow. I can overhype myself just looking at it! :D

I just cannot wait.

Hmm the end of that article says, "The only thing Bethesda didn't know, was that Skyrim would blow a fuse in the suite they had rented out, causing everyone in the room to exhale a large sigh as they realized that this time, there wouldn't be a return to the snow encrusted bluffs of Tamriel's northern territory. This time, the umbilical cord to Bethesda's fantasy RPG really was cut."

What exactly do they mean by that?

In the future, please try to PM people for things like this; as not to derail threads, you see.
And to further contribute to the OP, None of Tolkien's works - save his retelling of V?lsungasaga, contained dragons.

It would be cool if you could find a dragon horde guarded by a dragon. It is a bit cliche'd, but what the hell?

Possibly that they used too much wattage and literally blew a fuse, shutting down all the demo computers.

I know they are over selling it, but thats pretty much what the theme of the game is about, which is weird because past games never focused on a single aspect, and with the limited amount of info and talk they are giving Skyrim, EVERY time they talk about Skyrim they talk about Dragons, it never fails.

now they have all right to gloat I mean, this is the first time Dragons are being done the way they are. entities in a game not restricted to cut scenes or boss fights but an actual constant threat with its own Dynamics :D

Well they turned off Dragons for the hands on demo, so at least the latest batch of previews focused on other things.
