Draugr Death Overlord vs Deathlord?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 8:25 am

I recently found a place east of Riften in the mountains that contained an Ancient Dragon and a Dragon Priest.

But just a few yards is a building that had a Draugr Death Overlord which I've never encountered and it seemed a lot tougher than the Deathlord is this the highest level Draugr you can find in Skyrim?

I'm playing on master if that helps?

What level are you? I think the draugr go up in rank the higher level you get.

Because I noticed that at low levels it was mainly just draugr and restless draugr, ans as I progressed the amount of draugr decreased and draugr deathlords started appearing. Occasionaly I'll fight an overlord.

Level 81 but that's the only place I've seen one. I always encounter Deathlords in dungeons etc but never a Death Overlord :/

Well I encountered them around 50 I believe. But it was a rare encounter.

Maybe they are dungeon related?

Deathlords are usually in the 30 levels range. Death Overlords are the boss versions and goes up to 45 levels.

That said, there is a particular type of Deathlord which is somewhat more dangerous than a Death Overlord. The bow using type.

Type this "player.placeatme 640b7 1" to taste their power.

This. And Dragon Priests are the highest level of Draugr.

The Death Overlord is the more powerful and so far I have only clashed with one, and I am level fifty six.

I find archers to be easier than melee fighters. It's pretty easy to dodge arrows, provided you keep you distance and hit them with range attacks.

I think there have been some that use the three-word version of Unrelenting Force - and that's a real pain. Nothing like getting knocked on your ass and having three Death Overlords whomping you with ebony battleaxes.

Death Overlords provide Grand souls, and Death Lords provide Greater souls, so Overlords should be tougher

Same here, the first one I encountered was the most fun fight I've had in skyrim so far. I had to use a guardian circle scroll so I wouldn't die but it still gave me a good challenge. If you get all the way through the Volskygge dungeon there will be one waiting for you at the end. (Volskygge is a fair walk west of Solitide and is located at the base of a mountain.)

Huh. I'm level 54, and I've run into... 3 so far? That Unrelenting Force shout is murder.

Thank god I haven't encountered one with an ebony bow I heard they can 1-2 shot you and if you combine that with their shout you're pretty much toast lol.

No it's out in the open it's west of Riften right next to the dragon alter. (not the dragon priest temple behind Riften)

^This. In Silverdrift Lair I encountered three Deathlords with Ebony Bows firing Ebony Arrows. You can forget dodging the arrows because you can't see them as the crypt is too dark. Furthermore they can shoot through solid objects. Still don't know if this is because of 1.4 or not. I didn't encounter these guys until after the patch.

I just got a death overlord with a level 26 character. It was boss of one of those dungeons west of Windhelm. It was nasty. Five casts off sanguine rose and it still kept coming. I was frightened to go anywhere near it because one hit took my health to about 10%. Got an ebony sword out of it though.

The first Death Overlord i encounted was south west of Riften in an open graveyard guarded by an ancient dragon.

When i first encounted him i did not recognise his name. After he one-shouted me i was aware of his presence. In my second try i managed to shoot him with my bow but a another Deathlord killed me after that. So i fought him a third time. This time i had the first strike and one-hitted him (sneak perk etc.).

Yep that's the place I'm talking about but the thing is the first coffin can contain a Dragon Priest instead of Death Overlord but regardless there's two Death Overlords (one behind in a small crater and another up some stairs)

I'm just glad the Ancient Dragon fights the Death Overlords otherwise there's a high chance you will get destroyed especially on master lol.

The thing that's getting on my nerve the most is not the Unrelenting Force, it's the Disarm shout. I faced two Deathlords (not Overlords) at once, yesterday (I'm level 32) and I kept running around to pick up my weapons, dying repeatedly because I couldn't hit them barehanded (well, I could, but neglectable damage).

That was an awful moment in my Argonian's adventuring career...

Yes the dragon killed at least one Deathlorad and 3-4 minions. I was able to shoot him with my bow so when he landed in front of me he was near death.

I did not recognise the other draugr was an Overlord too but regardless of weather it is an Overlord or not, they kill me easily.
