up a 12+ hour session of Morrowind/Skyrim and went to sleep. In my dream, I was Emperor of Tamriel, during what I
believe was either the early 4th or late 3rd era. I had a nice throne room in the Tower, with a few advisors,
and, on the floor, a giant map of Tamriel. But this was no ordinary map. Each terrain was represented by the real
thing. Sand with sand, mountains with rock, water with water, etc. It was a perfect scale map, height and
distance. The dream seemed to last for days, with me going through policy with my advisors and especially my
battlemage, Socucius Ergalla (I know he's not a mage in lore, but it was a dream), as well as my chief
legate, a Nord wearing the Imperial Knight Armor from Morrowind. Finally, near the end of my dream, there was a
rebellion in Morrowind, lead by none other than the Queen Mother, Barenziah. I promply
crushed it, and as the rebellion was rooted in the local nobility, decided to place the province under direct
Imperial control, and divided it in two. In the North, Vvardenfell Province, with the island and parts of the
coast, and in the South, Mournhold Province, with the rest. My dream ended as my herald announced my changes to the council and a captured Barenziah.
As I mulled over it this morning, I came to the idea of a game. An empire management and grand strategy game, in
which you are the Emperor of Tamriel. It has dynastic mechanics akin to Crusader Kings, with Empire Management
similar to Civ and EUIII, with edicts, rebellions, appointing of governors and all that. When troops meet in
battle, the map zooms in ala Total War. The main map would, of course, be similar to the map of my dream, a
stylized representation of the terrain. There would be two main types of armies; Imperial Legions, who are almost
always loyal to you, paid by the Empire and commanded by legates you or the council appoints, and Provincials,
who are commanded by feudal lords or kings, depending on the province. They usually aren't as loyal or reliable,
but may be better in combat terms (Orcs, Nords, Redguards, etc). However, if you choose to fight rebels of the
same race with Provinciall troops under your command, they may change sides mid battle. Anyways, that's what I've come up with so far, and wanted to know what you guys thought.
