The story of Cyrus, duh. Why wouldn't want to see the biggest BA this side of Tamriel?

Yepper, this.

I'd rather see a miniseries or some kind of ongoing big budget series. There's too much material in the TESverse to cram into two hours.

That would be incredibly cool if it was well done.

I'd have to say that the Battle of Red Mountain would likely be the best event in TES history to make into a film, if any. I wanna see Nerevar's sixy hairdo.

This, if well done, has the potential to be epicly epic.

so many reasons to not make a TES movie
1- at best it would be a LOTR rip off, at worst, a D&D rip off
2- too much story to make an original story, no way to please the fans with a Cyrus etc. story
3- It would have to be a big hollywood film to have any kind of budget. Zenimax might be able to bankroll a $10 million game but making a movie that would require the amount of special effects that TES would is way out of their league.
4- much better idea to do the mini or ongoing series. Doesn't have to be epic scale etc - special effects can be toned down a bit. And in the end, there's more room for character development and story.

There is no way that they would be able to please anyone on this board with a tes movie. While there are a lot of tes fans, there aren't enough (IMO) to warrant a lore faithful tes movie and it would just degenerate into cats and lizards with swords vs the ageing cast of braveheart.

at the same time, if they did make a movie and it did well, it would pressure Beth to make the games that much faster to cash in on the fan base created by the film. Hopefully that would not mean that they start churning out the games annually, but perhaps we could see some spin off games. Who's not the least bit hopeful to see a TES spin off in the same spirit as God of War or some kind of RTS?

A decent movie could never be made using TES as its source material.

That would be something cool to see. Maybe the story of Nerevar then the Battle of Red Mountain as a series/season finale?

An advanture series set in the elder scrolls world would be the thing I would like to be made. Battle of red mountain would be nice, and have a cool story, but it doesn't show more of tamriel, as an adventure series would. Battle of red mountain would be something fitting more for a film trilogy than a series, but I just know for some reason, that a TES film would fail/not be taken seriously as any other video game film, filmmakers can't get away from the fact that it's based on a videogame from some reason, and it gets really weird. An adventure series, though: "This is Tamriel and its surroundings, and known info about it..."

There's huge potential for a pretty kick-@$$ series if they were to do them well. However, I don't think that any studio could truly capture the essence of the Elder Scrolls universe. Therefore, I wouldn't want to see an Elder Scrolls movie made. To be honest, though, if an Elder Scrolls movie were released, I would probably go see it anyway, just out of curiosity.

I've seen some pretty terrible movies based on things I liked "just out of curiosity" - TES would be be one of them if it were made. Actually just about every video games movie is pretty terrible. Bloodrayne, Mortal kombat (more the 2nd than the 1st), Alone in the Dark, Street Fighter etc. etc.

Id Prefer not to see one. but if So why not just a single plot. and a Minisode kind of situtions. Several Episodes over a coure of so long showing various parties or people seeing similar goals through different methods. This giving a glimps of every one. including the different types of Races and characters.

IF this were to happen, Fargoth MUST make a [very] brief appearance. Also, whoever the main character(s) is(are), they must start in prison. A few things are just too sacred to change.

Seriously though, I think if done right a TES film could be amazing. Think of something epic that is split into several movies ala LotR, not something thrown together cheaply like D&D. Live action mixed with very good CG for the larger creatures/Daedra/etc would be best imo.

Why would they start in prison? That only happened in two of the TES games. It isn't exactly a trend or tradition.

Wrong....it happened in ALL 4 TES games. TES 2 and 3 actually started immediately after being released from prison, but the story STILL started with the main character in prison. It actually is a tradition of the TES series.

TES 1 you were in prison.
TES 2 you were never in prison. You were a close friend of the emperor after rescuing him.
TES 3 you had been in prison, but you were released and delivered to Morrowind in the Emperor's "This might be prophecy" fun club.
TES 4 you start in prison.

Daggerfall didn't start you out in a prison.

The ship you start out on in Morrowind is called the "Imperial Prison Ship". It's still technically a prison, in addition to the literal prison you were in prior to the game.
