Dreams of the Fire chapter 3

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:31 pm

Name: Fadrill
Gender: Male
Race: Appears Dunmer although he has Daedra Blood
Height: 5ft 8in
Age: 78
Class: Demigod
Skills: Prefers heavy armor, Bladed weapons, he knows how to fire a crossbow with excellent precision, he prefers to dodge his attacks rather than block.
Unique Trait: he has been given the "gift" of being able to see fate itself (he recieves visions)
Appearance: Long wavy white hair (yes that says white hair), small scars on his chin and one small scar near his cheek.

Clothing: Wears a darkened steel plate armor that increases his power, but makes him unable to disobey Mephala, without removing the armor.
Equipment:
Deceit: A Daedric Longsword that morphs from shortsword to Longsword at the wielders will.
Betrayal: A Dwarven crossbow made to puncture through armor.
Miscellaneous Items: Arrows, throwing knives, and other small weapons.

Personality: Regards himself worthy of respect, regards beast races as lesser beings, trusts others, but is not considered to be trustworthy, loyal to Mephala.
Major Flaw: He is fiercely loyal to Mephala and hates beast races.
Background:
Fadrill unknowingly was raised by Mephala to be her instrument of vengeance. He was placed on the realm of mortals where he would be quickly trained by her worshippers. After his training he had received a vision from Mephala which showed men named Charon and Raize’s accomplishments and he was simply told “find them!” With that he was granted his equipment and would begin his search that would take months to accomplish.

Yeah, and Belan is on the war path. He will either see his home restored, or he will die trying.

Not as sure about Quirinus and Maximillian though. They are... potentially rogue elements in the equation...

You already have my vote, I would rather something other than white because sometimes that color is used as descriptive text.

Well I didn't really want to leave her out, since she didn't really have much 'screen time' in the last thread. She usually just stood at the side lines looking menacing  .
I do have a character set up to be one of the champions, but I'm going to wait a while before introducing him.

lol thats actually what she does best. She is mainly a strong silent type and feels its only necessary to talk when something needs to be said. Though when she is alone with Charon she is more talkative.

So instead of white how about Dark Green, I will put it up when I'm on my computer.

That's fine, and I also add my vote to you joining the thread. I use white as a narrative device from time to time, so dark green would be much better.

snip

Would something like this work...?

Fadrill's began to doubt if the web-spinner had given him an unachievable goal, and that these men Charon and Raize were not existent, but all that would soon be proven false.

...Not a huge problem, I'm sure she'll turn up when we need her help the most. I just get the feeling we'll need all the help we can get on this quest.
Everyone in the room didn't know what to expect when a Dark Elf opened the door dressed in military grade armor, with his weapon unsheathed he merely said these words.
Raize, Charon there is much to be done, don't ask how I know your names or recognize you. It is a complicated affair that I will not be dealing with at this time. You just know that I am on your side, and that we have much work to do!

well for one Gaius was slightly correct. We are in Raizes home town of Cheydinhal in Cyrodiil. They are not actually in his house but rather had chased Lilith from his house after she had teleport Elon from his bed to Boethia's realm. They interrupted her before she could send herself and chased her through town until she had to fight them. Where when the fight had seddled down she revealed a few things which occupied them long enough for her to gather the resources to teleport herself to Boethia's realm. They are now on the street where Kiva (Raize's wife) has finally caught up with them and has discovered her son was kidnapped.

Honestly though i think your post is a bit too..... blunt. Dont feel that you need to rush things. Why not start your guy out with Mephela's followeres just after he has finished his training and after describing it set up the scene where she speaks to him and gives him his first task.

Also with you CS i was thinking that Ebony might be a bit much for starting off. Charon for instance only wears leather armor. the other warrior types wear steel for the time being. One of the issues we decided to nip in the bud in the last RP was that our characters had become too powerful, and as a result were becoming harder to challenge. All though we might not follow most of the rules listed in the RP forum that rule we discovered is a good one for a reason.

If you like the look of Ebony you can always have him wear darkened steel. Also that would be a pretty powerful gift to him, which is not exactly allowed in the games. One could say that her followers gave it to him but they are also tied to Mephela and would count as her giving it to him. Also most worshipers seem to have completely devoted their lives to their deity, so where would they have gotten such valuable armor from?

This is only my perspective of it and its not to be taken as law, but only as a friendly suggestion. :foodndrink:

Well, until Yes Man FTW posts the next part introducing his character, I'd like a little outside opinion on something despite it being slightly off topic. I used to be working on a novel of my own but it was put on hiatus due to needing to get my ideas straight. After doing a lot of thinking on the matter, I decided to start the thing from scratch, but this time I would construct world elements and from them build the story. It was only when I started doing this when I relaised that it would fit much better in the context of a video game than a novel so...that's what I've been focusing on. I've just done a first draft of the character bio for one of the main characters, and I'd appreciate a little feedback. Not all of it will make sense as it references certain story elements without explanation, but I hope you get the gist.

Character Bio – Kiva
Full Name: Kiva Lionheart.

six: Female.

Age: 17.

Appearance: Small to medium sized, with shoulder length crimson red hair hanging loose, with deep blue eyes. Quite thin with very pale skin and is a B-cup. Tends to wear darker clothes, but her favourite colour is blue so some of her outfits reflect this. She is often seen wearing a pair of glasses for reading that she picked up in the old base where she was found by the party.

Personality: Painfully shy and antisocial at first, she opens up a little later in the story. However, she still prefers to be on her own most of the time, or at least in small groups. She can be quite self centred sometimes due to her ordeals in The Machine meaning that she had to adapt this way, but if one of her friends asks her for help she finds it very difficult to refuse.

Likes: Reading, writing (poems and songs), drinking tea, knitting.

Dislikes: Most sports and outdoor activities, shouting, bullies, fighting (note: this doesn't apply in her Wight form).

Love Interest: Ortus.

Contrast: Jessica.

Backstory: She was born into a noble family, but she was taken from them at ten years of age. The villain hooked her up to The Machine, which sustained her life while keeping her mind occupied by the Other Future. The Other Future was a virtual reality designed to turn her into a shell of a person, leaving her crippled in that her Shine form would be very unlikely to surface. She didn't quite get that far, perhaps due to the party's intervention or maybe even the Spirit of Battleblood's, but in any case she merely became very shy and withdrawn, nervous to interact with others in fear of a negative reaction.

Quirks: Has a great respect for books, making sure she takes careful care of every single one she owns. If someone else mistreats them, then they are likely to get a disapproving stare from Kiva.

I guess we kinda did it the wrong way round, huh? Since I'm hoping to become a video game designer, and with the direction the story elements I was making were taking, I just decided for it to be in a game context instead of a novel. I mean, I like writing stories, but with this particular one I couldn't contain it in a novel, really.
If you would like to know a little more I'd be happy to answer, but let's keep that to PMs so the thread doesn't get locked for off topic discussion.

Lol i wanted to be a designer too, but figured my skills would be better suited for story lines and such, not sure if thats the same thing. The thing that steered me away from making my novel a game was mainly because i like a lot of custimization in my games. And that sort of conflicts with my ideas for my novel. So i decided to make it a novel instead.

Yeah ill PM ya about it.

Alright guys I edited the CS.
Fadrill will speak in Dark Slate Grey
Mephala will speal in Dark Grey
All Miscellaneous characters will speak in white, and it will be used as a narrative device.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How is my champion doing in his training...?
He has made astounding progress since he was delivered here as a boy, I hope we have served you well.
You have. But fate has other plans for Fadrill, he is needed to speak with me, IMMEDIATELY!
Absolutely webspinner!
You called for me Mephala.
Indeed, fate has great plans for you, so before the games begin I must give you the mantle of a Champion, an enchanted set of Steel Plate armor that will bolster your speed, making it as though you were weightless. I have also given you a weapon known as Deceit, it morphes from shortsword to longsword at will. You may also keep your Crossbow.
Thank you Mephala, I wanted to talk to you about fate.
Champion, why would you even need to know about fate.
Because I can see fate's webs, I have recieved a vision of two men, Raize and Charon.
Champion, it was a gift I have bestowed to you in secret, if you can see fate then you know that you must purge this sanctuary, as these worshippers are tainted, they want to eliminate you.
Normally, he would have completely refused to slay his mentors and childhood friends, but he simply could not.
Yes, Webspinner, this sanctuary will be purged.
As those words exited his mouth he began his crusade against his former mentors. He had ended their lives without a single scratch on him or his armor.
Now to find Charon and Raize!
And with that he began his quest.

I agree, I will make sure he is not too OP when he is involved in the actual quest.

Better, just remember that we dont really care how long your post is so long as its not redundant. Go into full detail of what people are doing, give a mental image of whats going on in the scene. This just isnt an RP this is a story and every story has to paint a picture for the reader to keep interest.

Also Mephala's text is hard for me to distinguish from White, the grey automatic text that I am using now is pretty much just used for our communication and writers notes, and as I said we use white as descriptive text.

Example:

The room was dark and full of dread as Jack walked into the unknown, I have a bad feeling about this. Just then he heard a board creak and a hiss come from behind him.

Not trying to nitpick or anything but its easier with that system, every one knows what the text color means and reduces confusion.

Mephala could speak maybe in a Dark Grey, it kinda goes with her mood (i think anyways) and its not close to any other colors.

I picked the color on a whim, maybe a shade of grey, BTW I'm all for character controlling, so whenever I get Fadrill in with Charon and Raize feel free to do so.

I'm not too big on character controlling, I just do small things to get things going i my posts but i wont do any thing too drastic with some one else's character. I'll stop the thread at that point and let them decide how to handle the situation.

No no, that's what I mean, I generally dont want for people to FULLY control my character, but only to advance things.
