Dreams of the Fire chapter 3

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 7:03 am

I edited the CS a bit, this should work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: Fadrill, speaks in Dark Slate Grey.
Gender: Male
Race: Appears Dunmer although he has Daedra Blood
Height: 5ft 8in
Age: 78
Class: Demigod
Skills: Prefers heavy armor, Bladed weapons, he knows how to fire a crossbow with excellent precision, he prefers to dodge his attacks rather than block.
Unique Trait: he has been given the "gift" of being able to see fate itself (he recieves visions)
Appearance: Long wavy white hair (yes that says white hair), small scars on his chin and one small scar near his cheek.
Clothing: Wears a darkened steel plate armor that increases his power, but makes him unable to disobey Mephala, without removing the armor.
Equipment:
Deceit: A Daedric Longsword that morphs from shortsword to Longsword at the wielders will.
Betrayal: A Dwarven crossbow made to puncture through armor.
Miscellaneous Items: Arrows, throwing knives, and other small weapons.
Personality: Regards himself worthy of respect, regards beast races as lesser beings, trusts others, but is not considered to be trustworthy, loyal to Mephala.
Major Flaw: He is fiercely loyal to Mephala and hates beast races.
Background:
Fadrill unknowingly was raised by Mephala to be her instrument of vengeance. He was placed on the realm of mortals where he would be quickly trained by her worshippers. After his training he had received a vision from Mephala which showed men named Charon and Raize’s accomplishments and he was simply told “find them!” With that he was granted his equipment and would begin his search that would take months to accomplish.

If you're referring to the story post, then I think it could use more detail. I agree with Charon, no need to rush since giving a clear depicition of what is going on is more important than speed. Also, having white be a narrative colour is fine, but I wouldn't recommend also using it for the miscallaneous characters. That will get confusing very fast if you ask me.
If you're referring to the character sheet, I'd say he's perhaps still a little bit OP. Champions will generally have their own equipment plus a gift given to them by their prince. Wouldn't the Ebony Blade or a similar artifact make more sense than a daedric longsword that can also turn into a shortsword?

About the artifacts, I could get rid of it and replace it with something similar to the ebony blade. But I would prefer this sword.

No, I meant I could

A.) Keep what I have (prefered.)
B.) Get rid of it and make it similar to the ebony blade (unprefered)

If think you can keep what you have, if you add some limitations to it. Imagine Daggerfall, you could make a very powerful character at level one, but you had to make some severe sacrifices in order to be so powerful...

Why not keep the enchantment that allows it to elongate from short to long but change the material of the blade to something lesser? perhaps steel, dwarven, or elven?

Right, I think we need to get back on track here, I'm writing a next part to the Morrowind War, so if anyone wants to get involved in that plot, say so.

And would it be okay if I introduced a new, rather... interesting character as an antithesis to Charon.

Marcus Percurius, the avatar of Sithis on Tamriel, a psychotic assassin and murderer. Essentially a meshing together of Riddike and the Joker, and he has a rather intense interest for everyone in this thread. An as of yet unknown entity has requested his services to bring darkness to the night sky, and to destroy Raize, Charon, and Belan.

Gaius i just realized you joined on my birthday!

Sounds intriguing... Yeah I plan on Lilith doing her masters will of spreading deceit, conspiracy, secret plots of murder, assassination, treason, and unlawful overthrow of authority upon King Belan's throne. She should stir the pot up very well, especially since she has long since mastered the art of shape shifting  in illusion. If you ever want one of your characters to do something that would coincide with the will of Boethia then fill free to let it be the doing of Lilith to destroy Belan's kingdom! Just start it in small incriments of causing mistrust of Belan among the others. Remember she could be anyone.

lol i think i'm going to injoy running an evil character

My character is slowly losing individual thought.

Might work, perhaps from a shortsword to katana...? Not sure which material yet.

Not sure i know what you mean when you say "My character is slowly losing individual thought." Are you saying that you feel that your character is loosing who he was? If so armour and weapons dont make a character. How they interact with the world around them, that makes a character who they are. The weapon and armour are just an extension of themselves.

You could do short sword to long sword or wakazashi to katana. Changing the blade form might be a bit of a stretch for a non artifact weapon. You could do like you did with the armour and just make it darkened steel, if you like the dark look.

I think he means that we're telling him what to do with the character too much. Look, it's not that we're trying to put a damper on your creativity or anything, but generally it takes jumping through a hell of a lot of hoops to make room for over powered characters in the storytelling. For example, when Maximillion was around in the last thread, it made it very difficult to break out of his prison simply because he was basically an all powerful god being. So I hit the reset button a few times to make everyone's characters a little less godly, but I'm hoping we won't need a repeat of that in this thread. That's why we're trying to cut down on loads of enchanted items and what not.

Sweet, works for me. I'm thinking that his interactions with Raize will be most interesting. I plan to mostly stay out of the Morrowind War, but I'll chip in if or when I'm needed.

I actually try to make my character's personalitites be their weaknesses. Maximillian may be a god, but he is essentially the Illusive Man from Mass Effect, his own hubris is normally his undoing. Belan is consumed with vengance and anger to the point of it blinding him from what is really going on. Quirinus, while very powerful and intelligent, has a troubled past that allows his enemies to easily exploit him for their own nefarious plans. Marcus likes to "toy" with his food before he kills it, and this can really hurt him.

Well i was thinking that the paths of both stories could cross paths at one point or another. Raize and Charon could run across Belan and the others and then realize that whats going on with them is connected. Charon and raize of course trying to get Elon back and Belan trying to hold his kingdom together from the Lilith's meddling

There are two things Raize is not fussed with; politics and religion. As such, he'll probably only delve as far into the political situation in Morrowind as he has to so he can find his son, and may be a lot more blunt and short tempered during negotiations and such. We'll see, I suppose.

The armor is affecting his decisions... Not that he's losing his initial image.

That is the exact plot of that mod, you get a suit of armor that takes over your mind and forces you to do horrible things...

Well, I have a plan for my character that may make this RP get exciting quickly, but it involves a major plot change, not canon wise, but just RP wise, do I need permission (it only involves my character so it shouldn't be a problem...)
