Dreams of the Fire - Discussion

Oh, you know I am perfectly able to hurt my characters. Mannimarco would have no good motivation to work with Vivec.

Besides, Shadowscales are trained to be the great assassains, the most gifted artisans, the strongest warriors, and the deadliest weapon of the one wielding them.

Surely they can walk on snow without disturbing it. But if not that, I have no idea...

i vote Quirinus... though i dont really remember what happened to him... can i get a quick recap?

I would also like the shadowscales to come in at some point.... maybe Vivec / Quirinus has employed them?

After the Amulet of Daedra's Call, Quirinus finally became friends with Maximillian. But something happened, and their relations soured again. Not sure what happened, but hell, give me enough time, and I'll come up with a reason.

Plus, Qurinus is a crusader, and has a strict code, and will fight his closest friends if they violate it. He suspended it for Amulet, but that was a very special occasion, and probably will not happen again.

.... I see... Maximillian could have been against him rejoining with Vivec and could have soured them. Also Vivec could have ascended Quirinus to something out to make him a more worthy "Dragon"... something beyond human like himself... that way the no trail thing would be explainable.

Good thing I didn't decapitate the Argonian like I originally planned when Amiel sneak attacked him.

But I vote for Quirinus for The Dragon. He'll work well in that role.

We should probably continue the thread now unless anyone else has any more things they want brought up.

I just got STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, with Narodaya Soloknaya and Autumn Aurora working together, creating the most intense and beautiful and depressing game experience ever.

nice

yeah the only thing left on is will Quirinus be more advanced this time around? like has Vivec upgraded him to Quirinus 2.0? like maybe he can project himself to places, or maybe he is a metaphysical being now. like he is physically there, but not their at the same time. or will we just cross that bridge when we get there?

That's a bridge that Gaius will have to cross when he gets there.

I vote Quirinus too, so I guess we're all agreed.
Back to the thread proper then.

ok so Charon, Veronica, and Faire should be headed to a thieves guild contact to see if he or some one higher up could help them find Quirinus. i'm guessing though since this is the thieves guild they wont just hand the info over for free and want something in return. perhaps an item belonging to a official of some kind?

Well, Amiel is going to be visited by the gods and given several pieces of armor that will aid him against Quirinus. I'm planning that in the end, when everyone else goes on to fight Vivec, Amiel will stay behind and duel with Quirinus, whether it is to the death is up to Gaius. After Amiel gets his new armor though, I'm planning to send him back to find Faire, Charon and Veronica and arrive just in time to save them from a trap set by Quirinus.

Funny story, I was halfway done the post where Amiel is visited by the gods when I accidentaly closed the tab. That was annoying.

that would make since being at this moment Charon still see's Quirinus as a ally.

he could welcome them in with open arms only to have them trapped when they let their guard down, knowing that all he has to do is make his hospitality believable to Charon.

I'm not really sure. According to The Elder Scrolls Wiki, the Thieves Guild are found in the Ratways beneath Rifton. Where are we going to have the Thieves Guild in Windhelm?
And, perhaps more importantly, who are we going to contact? We don't really know any members of the Thieves Guild in game, so I've got no idea.
And I'd imagine the Thieves Guild would just ask for money. It would be a little odd for them to ask some random strangers who need information to do a job for them.
On the other hand, you mentioned that Charon has done a few thievery missions in his time. Perhaps Charon is known by the Thieves Guild and they want him to do a mission for them, since he's so well known for being one with the shadows.
Thoughts?

thats exactly what i was thinking.

Riften is just the headquarters for the thieves guild. they most likely would have outposts in every major city. Quirinus could have also had dealing with the Windhelm branch, which would explain how they know of him, and would also explain how they know where he could possibly be atm.

Most likely the thieves guild would only ask Charon to do a mission for them if it was practically a suicide mission. So the contact who sets him up for it would probably inform him that several thieves have died attempting to get it but none have gotten close. Something along those lines.

That seems workable. Is Charon going to meet with a doyen or something? That would make more sense than just a passer by on the street.
Also, it would make sense for you to do this segment. It's rather Charon heavy and involves a lot of stealth, so I reckon it would be a bit odd if anyone else wrote it.

welllllllllllllll...... the way i thought it could play through is that Charon, Veronica and Faire meets with a doyen to get the details of Quirinus, but before the doyen will release the details he works out a deal with Charon to bring him a specific artefact from a high ranking official. There were several attempts to gain the artefact but none of the thieves have returned or been heard from since. He wants Charon to infiltrate the small fortress that the official owns in the mountains to the north. While there to get the artefact he also wants him to look for any signs of the missing thieves.

He sends Veronica and Faire back to the room they had rented for the night with confidence that he would be back before dawn. while they wait Veronica cant shake the feeling that something is wrong.... very wrong (her connection to Charon) and soon discovers that Faire has disappeared.... She soon finds a note pinned to a table that says she has gone to check on Charon. Veronica will follow of course knowing that the kid could get herself and Charon killed. As for what has happened in the fortress I have a surprise in store. :hubbahubba:

Hm, I'm not so sure about that. Faire has a big brother - little sister kind of relationship with Charon right now, but it seems a little odd that Faire would just look go out and look for him despite him telling them to wait there.
Unless...perhaps we could the item from earlier be manipulating Faire? Perhaps Faire goes to sleep, has a very vivid nightmare about Charon in danger and thinks she has to look for him.
That's a possibility.

I am thinking that perhaps, Belan will join Vivec as well.

It makes sense. He is the son of Helseth and Prince of Morrowind, so he has a vested interest in helping Vivec. But, I think that he will change his side again when he learns Vivec's true goal.

I think that would be a very interesting twist. I also have no doubt that, once Belan found out Vivec's true goal, his honour would kick in and would switch sides.
It might still be a good idea to mostly avoid direct player v.s player combat though, like I said before. It can become a little tricky otherwise.

i was actually thinking something along those lines.... you need to stop reading my mind soul its beginning to be rather creepy

the way i saw it was Veronica is getting her bad feeling from instinct while downstairs informing the innkeep that Charon would be coming in at any time that night and returns upstairs to find the note from Faire. Faire could have dosed off and had a nightmare, or just received visions from out of the blue, from the pendant.

That sounds like a good plan. I'll probably be busy for most of today, so I'm afraid I won't be able to post much myself.

well i was going to start it but i got called into work early. if you want to start it off Soul thats fine, just leave Charons adventure in the fortress to me.... oh, i was also thinking that maybe Raize could be one of the missing thieves which further convinces Charon to take the mission (like he says something like we dont have time for this and begins to walk away, then the doyen says something like "thats a shame, your friend Raize was amongst the missing and i thought you may have an interest in finding your old friend").... maybe Raize was just doing it for old times sake.
