Dreams of the Fire

She saw that Charon had already removed his hood, face mask and upper armour. He was handsome, he had medium lenght black hair and smooth face that looked like it belonged to a pure blood noble. His body was solid and muscular. What she couldnt stop staring at thogh were the scars that were on his chest, stomach and back. He saw her staring. He smiled to himself, The price of my trade.

I don't mind them, they're not ugly. They just show all the suffering you've been through. Now, I'm going to get changed.
Faire started to get undressed. Charon looked to the side and coughed.
Something wrong, Charon?
It's, ah, not polite to look at a lady getting undressed.
What a strange custom. Well, you can look back if you want, I'm done.
Faire had changed into plain brown and white linens with a loose overcoat over the top. A dark brown scarf adorned her neck, hiding her collar from view.
Very normal looking. It'll do nicely *he finished buttoning up his shirt*.
Charon was wearing russet felt linens, a very common item of clothing among most Skyrim dwellers.
*I was a little disappointed that he'd finished putting his shirt on, but couldn't figure out why*. You're looking pretty...normal yourself.
Loud, demanding voices could be heard from above.
Looks like we've overstayed our welcome.

Sorry to pass it on to you again Charon, but you seem to have nailed the brothel scene, and I'd rather not hijack it.

lol i was actually hoping that you would get them out of the place.... they are actually in a underground room... so the noise would have came from above.

They gathered their things and continued the tunnel and the light from the changing room began to fade behind them, ahead was darkness. Do you know how to use night eye? Night what? Its a spell that alters your vision allowing you to see in ablsolute darkness without the use of light. No, sorry I barely know how to use a light spell. Hmm, I can use light but given the situation it may give us up. I'll have to guide you, just trust me and listen to my instructions, ok? Ok.

He stood still for a second and wiped his hand down his eyes, from what she could see the pupils seemed to grow big, really big. Your eyes! Its what's supposed to happen. As long as I dont get a sudden flash of light in my face I'll be fine, if i have some fore warning i can dispel the effects. He reached out for her hand, Are you ready to go? Yeah, lets get this over with. She reached out and took his hand. For some reason she felt comforted by it.

They began to walk into the darkness, It was darker than dark, so dark she couldn't even see her hand before her own face. He stopped. We're at the secret passage entrance..... Now which stone was it again..... Ah this one. She heard the sound of stone rubbing stone and then some clicking and then a louder stone rubbing noise.
Ok the door is opened, now you need to understand that the ground in here is not even, and I'll try to warn you for most of the rocks, drops, stones, stalagmite, and bones.... Bones? Yeah about that, Goblins sometimes inhabit this cave, so your going to have to stay absolutely quiet. and listen for my whispers. If I see any near by I will squeeze your hand hard, if I continue to squeeze your hand that means DONT MOVE. they can see in the dark but they cant see you unless you move. Got it? She gulped. Yeah.... Cant we just go back and fight our way out? Dont worry goblins arn't that smart. Now lets go.

Amiel felt a strong as a bull. It had been four hours since the fugitives had escaped, and he was running out f time. His shackles were the Shackles of the Moon, and he got Faize's strength at night. But in the morning, the reverse would be true. After they'd finally restrained the Dunmer, an Argonian had attacked, taking the Dunmer and quickly leaving. They'd tracked the girl and the assassin t a brothel, but going inside had been a mistake. Amiel was alone now, the thieves guild members had left him to have their fun. He'd been smart though. He'd found the room that all the girls were trying to hide, then snuck inside. Finding the passasge hadn't been difficult, but a new smell filled his nostrils. The smell of roast rat and human. He was in a goblin cave.

Amiel drew his claymore, a beautifully engraved blade. It was the paladin's sword, Chrysamere. On his torso was the Lord's mail, its enchantements keeping him in top shape. On his wrists were the Gauntlets of Randagulf the Great. He knew he had to find the girl and the assassin quickly. The girl would be barely able to stand now, and that was dangerous in a Goblin cave. He regretted all that he'd done to them, but this was his last chance at freedom and living. He'd spent weeks preparing for this night, ever since the Daedra King Stahlsong had paid him a visit and told him of the Son of Boethiah. He wasn't going to screw it up now.

He entered a small cavern. Bodies of dead Goblins lay everywhere. Blood soaked the ground. But on the ground were the most disturbing marks of all. Lines showing that someone had been dragged along the floor. And footprints showing somene giving chase...

Belan woke up in a dark room lit only by flickering candle light. Though everything was still blurry, he could make out the shape of an Argonian sitting at a table nearby.

Ah, good, you are awake. You are indeed lucky that I caught up to you when I did, Mr. Indarys. Otherwise, I think things would have been very bad for you.

As his senses began to function properly again, Belan looked around at his surroundings. He was in some sort of cave or basemant, or more likely some sort of hideout.

You are no doubt confused. Understandable given the circumstances. Let me fill you in.

You are safe for the time being. I regret, however, to inform you that I am placing you under arrest in the name of the Argonian Empire as a sabeteur and as an enemy agent.

You see, however much you tried to hide who you really are, I still know who you are. Still, you will be treated civilly. You are not my enemy, but instead the enemy of my contractor, and I hope we can still be friends.

I assure you, I have no idea what you are talking about. I am just an old man, not some enemy of Argonia as you so put it.

The Argonian got up, walked over to Belan, and grabbed Belan's left arm, sinking his claws deep into it.

Please Mr. Indarys, you are only making it harder for yourself. Why don't we just drop this act, I do not find it entertaining.

Belan winced in pain.

Fine. Fine!

The Argonian let go.

Tell me, Mr. Indarys, have you ever faced a Shadowscale before?

I have.

A finely engraved claymore flashed through the air, striking the Argonian in the side, knocking him to the floor. Amiel had been walking down the tunnels, searching for Faire and Charon when he'd heard the exchange coming from above. He'd followed the sounds to a small pool, through which he swam up into a small well in the corner. Silently, he'd gotten out of the water and attacked the Argonian.

I know you don't trust me, and you have every reason not to. But everything that have done this night I have done on order from a higher power, by order of Stahlsong. It also happens to be my last chance to live.

Faire or the assassin were taken by goblins, and I'll need your help rescuing them. I need Charon to release these bindings. If you help me, I promise that I will not bother you ever again. I'll even do this out of good faith.

Amiel untied Belan from his chair.

Stahlsong? What in the name of Oblivion is a Stahlsong? I'm not sure I should even believe you. You want the assassin dead, and he is a friend of a man I respect very much, and you should fear. I cannot allow you to hurt him.

I do not wish him dead. If anything, the opposite. And ironically, Stahlsong is the new ruler of Oblivion. I cannot say more. He will know and he has told me not to reveal who he is until Charon has freed me. Charon will know him however.

You okay?
*I nodded daring not to make a sound*.
The goblins had come from nowhere. Charon had not thought they would be smart enough to detect him, but he didn't bet on a chieftain being present. Charon had to fight away the goblins, with Faire mostly incapacitated by the shackles. It had been messy, but Charon had succeeded in driving them off. The chieftain knew not to go near them, so the coast was mostly clear. Charon had dragged a goblins corpse away in a direction and planted false prints to make it seem like they'd been captured by the goblins. Amiel had passed by and took the bate.
Good. The chieftain will have informed the goblins that we aren't good targets to hunt. Still, we must be vigilant. They could still go after you.
Charon grabbed hold of Faire's hand again, leading her on with his enhanced vision. They were quite far ahead of the room Charon had planted the fake tracks in, and all was silent except for a light dripping. It was a small room with walls that had once been whitewashed, but now were covered in decades, if not centuries of crime and grime. The floor was a mossy cobble, and a door that looked like it lead to the outside was on the right.
*He tried to open the door, finding it unforgiving*. It doesn't look like it's locked, just old. There would be quite a loud noise if we were to kick it open.
Don't you have any spells that would muffle the sound?
Not really *he continued to mull it over. He looked back at the entrance to the room. There was still no one there, and no footsteps could be heard*. We're going to have to chance it. Can you give me a hand?
*I shook my head*. The collar seems to be sapping my strength even more now. I can barely stand.
*He grunted*. Fine then.
Charon shoulder barged the door, causing it to smack open, letting in the brightest sunlight.
Argh!
*I crawled over to him. He was shielding his eyes*. Are you ok?
Just the negative effects of the night-eye spell *he muttered a dispel under his breath, and his pupils shrunk down to normal size*. Better.
Charon lifted Faire up, letting her arm draqe over his shoulder so she could still sort of walk. They both left the sewer to find...

I think this is Amiel's time to shine. You're up Uriel.

Where do you think we should search?

Amiel cried out, collapsing on the floor, panting for breath, just barely getting it in and out of his lungs.

Damn, morning. Faire has my strength. It's over...

**********************************************************
Charon walked outside to find a figure wearing the most amazing set of armor.

Erik...

Hello Charon. Its been so long. I hope that poor Amiel didn't cause you trouble. He was working for me you know.

Faire suddenly felt better, but then the strength disappeared, and she fell to the ground convulsing in a seizure.

What's going on Erik?

Oh, I believe Amiel is dying due to the last of his strength being given to Faire since it is morning. Don't worry, she'll be dead in a minute or two.

A minute or two?!

Tops. A shame really, I mean since you could have saved her from this the entire time.

Charon regained his composure.

How?

Stahlsong smirked and proceeded to tell Charon what to do...

*He looked back at Faire, and thought of Amiel writhing the same way*.
Oh, take your time. Or not, since she'll be dead in a minute or two. Better think faster, Charon.
Charon...don't do it...for me. Assassins take lives...not save them...right?
*She could only speak slowly, and with great agony, but there was something about the way she said it. Faire had a plan*.
Well, Charon? What's it going to be?
I won't die from this. I won't die from this. I won't...

Charon drew Goldband, closed his eyes and stabbed himself straight through the heart. And he smiled.
Blood spilled out from the wound as he fell down on the floor, spilling on to Faire's shackles. In a burst of light, the shackles disappeared from Faire and Amiel.
But Charon was still bleeding.

*I picked up his torso and started to cradle it. He was fading*. Silly boy, Charon. You can't go to sleep yet. You've got far too much to do. Come on, get up. You don't want to miss all the fun, do you?
Blood continued to pour out of Charon's chest, but Faire continued, determined.
You've killed so many Charon, surely you've forgotten how to die by now. You can't have remembered it, otherwise you'd be dead a long time ago. Come on, get up. You don't want to miss all the fun, do you?

The blood flow stopped. Charon was silent. A tear fell down Faire's cheek but she didn't stop.
You can't just lie here like a rock, Charon. You've got to get up and keep fighting, like you always have. Do you want to dishonor your clan by dying now? Because that's what's going to happen. They'll just disappear from history. And it'll be your fault. Come on, get up.
The blood started to flow back into Charon's body. Goldbrand began to glow.
*I pick him up and hug him, being careful not to touch Goldbrand*. You don't want to miss all the fun, do you?
Goldbrand seemed to set alight with a purple flame, but Faire felt no heat. The blade retracted from Charon's chest, closing up the wound and leaving no blood left on the floor. Faire thought she hear a voice echo...
Not yet. Too much to do.
Charon opened his eyes, taking a deep breath in.
*I was still hugging him*. You're welcome.

It seems as though Sithis still likes you. That's good. That'll help you in this coming fight. Now let's see, The Knight, The Warrior, The Fire-Bringer, The Agent of Death... Who are we missing? Right! Charon, I believe that now will be the time where everyone shares their stories. No secrets among friends, right? You'll want to hear Amiel's, Belan's and hers especially. Also, tell them ours. Dark forces are moving in Skyrim. Forces that will threaten all that you love. When no more secrets remain amongst you, travel North. There, you will meet one of your old friends. Veronica or something I think. Anyway, lots to do being a Daedric King and all, got to run.

In a flash, Stahlsong was gone. In his place stood Amiel and Belan. Amiel looked bewildered at his hands, marveling at the fact that they weren't bound anymore.

I love Stahlsongs character. He's reminding me a little of Raize, actually :) .

*I looked from face to face, lingering especially on Amiel's. He was still staring at his hands in wonder*.
So...who first?

That's enough for tonight, I think. I'm going to bed.

Charon placed a hand over his chest, Thank you Faire, I could hear you from a distance.

Veronica is here? She must have news to what I was inquiring through letters.
He looked to the others, Hmm, it would seem that I am yet another pawn in fates ever expanding scheme. It would seem that we are to accomplish something together, and for us to succeed we should probably learn a little more about each other. You all know my name and this is my story.

Charon spent a few minutes to explain his past as an assassin, and touched up on how he knew Stahlsong, and what had ultimately led him into Skyrim.

So you all know the important bits of my past, which brings me to a question I've been meaning to ask you Faire. What did Tenius give you and what was the message he spoke of?

That's strange. I thought I'd given him the thing back, but it seems it's in my back pocket. Wait a minute, we changed clothes. How did it move?
Faire removed the item from her back pocket and looked at it, perplexed. The last time she'd saw it, it had been a pentagon with a triangle inside. It was the same shape, but this time...one of the ruby eyes had gone out. It had changed to a sapphire.
This is what he gave me. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the metal it's made from looks kind of blue. And the eyes...I swear they were both red before. As for the message, I don't think he gave it to me. All I remember is that he said "Beautiful isn't it?" and when I drew my weapon he said "This rose has thorns". I don't think there's some sort of hidden message in there...
In a moment, Faire's eyes glued shut and the strange item grew hot in her hands.
I heard a strange voice in my head. I didn't recognize it as anyone I knew, but it said...
You will be the fire that sets the world ablaze and has to spread the ashes. You will be the winter that will chill the land, leaving everything ungrown lost to the cold fire. Man in the mists, man in the fog, the creature in the dark. You must rebirth the world, but must first watch it burn.
Faire opened her eyes again to see Charon looking at her curiously.
Something wrong, Faire?
*I told them about my vision*.

Charon thought for a moment but drew blank. Hmm I suppose that was the message, but i have no idea what it could mean. Belan, Amiel?

By the gods. I have seen that in my dreams as well.

I fear I know their meaning. It speaks of the dark days to come. When I last saw Quirinus, he told me that the future was going to be hard. I thought he was just feeling bad that day, but now it makes sense. He has always had a strange connection, being able to detect the future.

I don't know what this creature in the dark is, but we have all been drawn together for a common purpose. What it is, and why I am not sure.

i already messaged Soul about this but i think it will be beneficiary to have a discussion thread for this thread where we can discuss and get a cannon plot without hickups. we can also use the thread for other people with questions about our characters or who wish to join the RP thread.... i believe we need approval from mods though.... thoughts?

As I said in my PM back, it would be a good idea, but Gaius would need to ask since he started the thread.
On the other hand...
We've been kinda playing it by ear in this thread and the last, and it makes way for a lot of plot twists and variations. I think if we started planning it out more, it would be more boring. Maybe it's just me though.

P.S - My current computer is in for repairs, so I've got to use a spare one that doesn't work quite as well, making using the forum difficult. I'll still be around here, but I won't be on as much until it gets repaired. Hopefully it'll be done by monday but...I don't know.

as i replied to soul this extra thread could be mainly used for the discussion of the plot itself so that we all have a general idea of what is happening and what will happen. I'll admit at times in the last thread that i was a bit lost on what was happening and where we were going in the thread, which is why i kind of sat on the side lines towards the end.

It could also be used for people to ask questions about our characters, or to know if they could join in and discuss how their character would be added in.

True, but I remember in the last thread that this variation caused me to have to improvise a solution to a plot twist I hadn't seen coming. Perfect example, Kiva's Parents Found dead in the cave outside solitude.
