Dreamsleeve transmission

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 6:03 pm

Can anyone explain what/how dream sleeve transmission is/works, without resorting to 'fantasy e-mails'? It's been niggling at me for a while and I thought I would ask your eminencies exactly what your thoughts are.

I only know that you need to be 'constantly in a meditative trance to relay the thoughts not yet real.' Something like that. I don't really get it.

So, it's essentially thought projection/telepathy? What is the purpose of categorising/naming the messages e.g dreamsleeve transmission 009o etc? Can other parties access transmissions not intended for them?

I think mushrooms are somehow involved.

Prowler explained it in full...

http://imperial-library.info/ForumArchives/Concerning_the_Dreamsleeve.html

Based on his explanation, I'd assume certain individuals could become powerful enough to communicate through the Dreamsleave, either using souls as messengers, or putting themselves in a state of "death" and being summoned by another party for communication, then somehow restore themselves.

That doesn't explain what GreatAlinor was asking about. We know the Dreamsleeve is a medium for the afterlife. How, exactly, does the magic internet work?

Seriously - why does every other user on the lore forums have that ape head as their forum avatar? I know this is off topic, but for a minute there I thought only one person was posting in this thread, having a conversation with himself. So, since it looks like yellow ape has answered the question, I'm tacking this on because I really must know. Alas, I am caught without my own apehead, much like that day I showed up for work without my ape head, but then found out that it was only a dream.

Incidentally, guys, I think we've passed the fortnight expiration date. Those heads are starting to smell.

That's how you know it's working.

I've only just donned mine, when my fortnight is up, I'll happily retire it. I prefer my dinosaur anyway...

For an Orc, it's an improvement.

I love mine. Though, I admit, when I first saw it, I thought it was a picture of a really weird mountain.

Bah...you Selectives and your Imga faces...I wish I was one of you.

On the main topic, dreamsleeve transmission involves a mage (or just a person in general, but typically mages are the ones to use it) to be in a psuedodeath-trancelike state, as to write memospores. Memospores contain the information that needs to be sent, and can be retrieved by other mages, or hidden away for archival purposes.

...or at least that's what I got out of it.

OP said not to describe them as "fantasy emails", but that's basically what they are....well, memospores that is. The dreamsleeve itself is where souls are recycled.

No, don't get rid of the Imga avatars! It makes the forum feel like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE-kie0k7Dc, except you're not exclusively female. Or are you?

EXCELLENT. Just what I wanted to know. Trust a fellow Altmer to deliver the goods. So the mage effectively enters the dreamsleeve in a state of pseudo-death in order to send memospores?

Sorta. I think of it personally as "hacking into the Matrix".

If only because it seems like writing a memospore/having a memosporic conversation seems similar to writing computer code.

I think these euphemisms are getting out of hand.
