Drelas, who is he?

Post » Sun Sep 08, 2013 8:11 pm

Anybody got any personal theories as to who he is?

Here's mine:

He's just actually a kindly old dunmer who produces all the sweetrolls in Skyrim for good boys and girls. The reason he lives in a remote cottage is to avoid his innumerable fans. When you enter his house however, having just escaped 5 fans enter his bedroom through the window, another 3 enter through the kitchen window and one arriving naked posing as a courier he's in a bit of a bad mood.

Still, he is brewing a new radical sweetroll recipe at his alchemy table which should taste even better than before, in fact, he is almost certain that it will start peace between the Stormcloaks and Empire because they will both appreciate the deliciousness of the new sweetroll that they will forget what they are fighting about.

Sadly, he spills some frostbite venom all over his prototype, which causes the recipe to melt and produces toxic gases, rendering him highly aggressive.

When you enter his house, he is under the effect of the pastry poison, and attacks you in a rabid frenzy.

Holy crap. Just checked on uesp to remind who he was, he can level up to 46!

Anyways, to me, Drelas is just some poor fool who never had a chance.

Seems legit.

Seriously though. He's just a solitary Dunmer mage/alchemist living by himself mastering his craft in peaceful seclusion. How'd you like it if someone just enters your home? Spending so much time alone just made him a little, too defensive.

Most people in tamriel find it perfectly fine for you to just enter their homes =P

Yeah, but that's in a city or settlement.

He's a solitary mage/alchemist who chooses to live entirely by himself. So he probably just doesn't like people/society. He has his own farm for sustenance, and his experiments to pass time.

I don't know, say you live in a city, if you left your door open, would you mind if people walked in?

I would mind.

But Drelas has the freedom to attack, since he's not immediately bound by law, as he lives in the middle of nowhere, to his own devices.

Maybe there was a quest planned for him and then they scrapped it and set him to hostile.

I never tout swords, I just wear normal clothes and a dagger.

An easy target for a quest involving a certain prince.

One of the most popular mods for Skyrim "interesting Npcs" which adds tons of lore-friendly voiced Npcs in the game allows you to talk to Drelas though I forgot what he was about.

Maybe he's related to the prisoner from Oblivion. Valan Drelas. The guy who taunts you at the intro I think.
