[ooo] Dremora And Daedra Attacking Each Other

Post » Sat Jan 22, 2011 11:34 am

I love that OOO makes it so it's not you vs. the entire world and things like bandits and wild animals will attack each other.

But I've had a lot of occasions in an Oblivion gate where I can see with Detect Life that there's a lot of enemies up ahead, only to hear them start fighting each other when I get near. It changes from what would be an exciting fight with multiple enemies to only one or two of them left with little health.

Is this something OOO does? Is there a way I can change that specifically? I didn't see it covered in any FAQs for it.

Hmmm... I'm not sure about this one. What other mods are you using?

Nope, not normal...What is your load order? using the bashed patch, perhaps? I sure would not mind the dremora distracting each other from time to time. On a slightly different note, when your questions pertain to one mod, it is typically better to post in that mod's thread. It is kind of like going to a cardiologist for heart problems. You should assure that is is their mod, and they know what they are doing. Plus, then they do not have to find you, which is more convenient for everyone much of the time. It keeps things around here a little neater, more focused. Hopefully, it helps get your problems fixed more quicly too. Lastly, solving mod issues requires a load order ~90% of the time. People may even ask for it when it is unnecessary, so you might as well post it most of the time.

Yeah, "What other mods are you using" actually means "Post your load order" :P

If you're using Wrye Bash, you should import factions and relations from OOO and see if it changes anything.

If you aren't, you should start, and then import factions and relations from OOO and see if it changes anything.

For what it's worth, I always have, in the Kvatch gate, one Dremora Scout who attacks a specific scamp. The scamp has the advantage and almost always wins, but sometimes the Dremora wins. Aside from that, I've always seen where Bandits/Marauders and wildlife don't get along, and I don't use OOO or any other overhaul mods.

Factions, factions, factions...Since you do not need a bashed patch to have a properly working MMM+OOO setup, you definitely do note need a bashed patch for OOO to work properly. If OOO is the only overhaul you are using, there is a good change that taking on Wrye Bash is unnecessary.

@Kristoffer: That is a really funny to imagine, a scamp taking down a dremora. (I am imagining a cute little scamp taking down one of those guys that wields that big dremora claymore.) I love scamps...LAME's are too big...

Nope, not normal...

Perfectly normal.
And it very much sticks to lore. Daedra and dremora despise each other. Ogres' have an intense dislike of imps. The various goblin tribes are forever involved in all out wars with each other, and almost everything else. Raiders and marauders kill bandits on sight.
The list of waring factions is almost endless.
Remember that in OOO your not the center of the universe.
If your running Mart's or FCOM you can use the Friendlier Factions plug-in to alleviate the situation.
With pure Oscuro's there's no such file available.

"Should be unnecessary" doesn't mean "completely unhelpful." And my instruction to pick up Bash has nothing to do with his problem. It's a matter of principle :D

Ooops...thanks for clearing that up. Gah, I need to play closer attention next time, probably too caught up running away from something inside the Oblivion gates. I like not being the center of the universe in the FCOM (or OOO) Oblivion world. Otherwise, I would die twenty-five times at level one instead just five times.

@ishmaeltheforsaken: I don't mind that principle, not at all. (A loyal Bash AND BAIN fan here. :D)

Edit: typo, wording

Thank you for clearing that up and everyone else who posted, I did not know that. If it's not lore-friendly for them not to be fighting each other then I don't want to mess with it.

So just to make sure, when I see Atronachs and Clannfears fighting Dremora, that's completely intended and not a bug or something I've done to screw up the game or other mods?

B) Do some in game book reading to get some insight as to how and why. :read:
Many users remove this feature using the add-ons I mentioned in the earlier above post, but being a bit of a lore buff I love it.
It also adds a bit of realism to the world, removing that "they're all out to get me" feature as soon as you make an appearance.

 I'm not giving you grief, just some friendly advice.
If you want accurate information it's always a good idea to post in a mods' http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1082120-relz-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul-133/ if one's available.
Often threads like these lead to well intentioned but sometimes misleading and confusing information.
