Dremora

Post » Tue Sep 07, 2010 5:41 pm

I know that Dremora are now the immortal warriors of Mehrunes Dagon, but I have read that they were not always so. What did they do before they served Dagon? Did they serve someone else, or no one? How were they created? I have looked a bit in the UESP but cannot find very much info on them. So does anyone know the history of the Dremora?

On somewhat unrelated note: can someone tell me why the process of making the Daedric Armor was said to be 'unleasant' to the Daedra?

Sorry if thats way off topic, but I figured since this topic is about Dremoras, this could fit here.

Because the Daedra are the cruel, alien soldier archetype. Best way to do this is by describing their complete uncaring and cruelty to each other to improve their armor.

As why it is actually unpleasant. I dunno, probebly has something to do with ripping a soul out of a lesser Daedra's body and putting it in a hot piece of metal and hammering it into shape.

Interesting to know the whole process. I thought maybe it was something to do with skinning a Dremora or something, since the armor looks like a empty shell of a Dremora or Dremora skin applied to that special Ebony thing.

Although it is off-topic, this brings up another question; if a daedra's soul is bound to Daedric armor, than how is it that it can be further enchanted?

On-topic, I doubt the Dremora are usually very inclined to talk about their history to mortals.

Because it's bound to it, not enchanted with. Next.

Yeah the way I always heard it was that they ripped the daedra apart spiritually and turned it into an inanimate object, which can't be pleasant. Even less so when you're a shield, taking hammers to your "face" for eternity.

As for Dremora, well, being they're all immortal, it would be great if they had one you could ask in the next game.

Just a note on the armor, I believe it has been officially stated that you go insane when wearing it for a long period of time. Perhaps this was only fan-made stuff, though.

I think that part about madness is fanon, but it is said in Morrowind that Daedric items retain echoes of the daedra's suffering from when it was refined. Either way, Divayth Fyr is 4000 years old and wears Daedric, and he's not insane.

Unless Fyr's grown accustomed to whatever it does, without ill effect.

But yeah, the process of creating Daedric armor is the equivalent to the Ghostbuster's supernatural vaccum for unfortunate, or impertinent Daedric souls.
