7 Dremora Valynaz versus 2 Forsworn Ravager Dead Thralls.

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:36 pm

I did a test pitting my 2 forsworn ravager archer dead thralls against 7 dremora valynaz.

Dremora Valynaz (Level 46) are much stronger than the Dremora Lords (Level 27) summoned with the conjure dremora lord spell.

I have only the necromancy side perks of the conjuration tree, twin souls (2 summons), dark souls (100 hp buff for reanimated dead), necromancy (greater duration, irrelevant for dead thrall).

The forsworn ravagers are wearing the following equipment which I upgraded (100 smithing with 4 pieces of +25% smithing gear) and enchanted (100 enchanting with middle enchanting path maxed):

Armor:
  • Forsworn Headdress (Legendary) with +40% archery damage
  • Forsworn Armor (Legendary) with +62 health and +25 light armor skill
  • Forsworn Gauntlets (Legendary) +40% one-handed damage and +40% archery damage
  • Forsworn Boots (Legendary) +40% one-handed damage and +37% frost resist
Weapons:
  • Forsworn Bow (Legendary) 20 absorb health, chance to paralyze for 5 seconds
  • Forsworn Sword (Legendary) 20 absorb health, chance to paralyze for 5 seconds
  • Staff of the Storm Atronach
I didn't list armor and weapon damage numbers because I think they are based off my skill instead of the forsworn's.

NOTE: Forsworn are the only thralls that will use any FORSWORN armor given to them. That means you can enchant and upgrade any forsworn armor, remove the armor originally on the corpse and replace it with upgraded and enchanted forsworn armor you got from other forsworn and they will equip it once you fast travel to any other cell (location).

The game difficulty was set to master.

The results?

Here's the video: http://youtu.be/YM7T77iqkjs

My thralls wiped the floor with the Dremora Valynaz unscathed.

Conclusion:
The dead thrall spell can be vastly superior to the conjure dremora lord spell if you are willing to put a little effort into it.
The conjure dremora lord spell isn't bad however. They can be summoned on command and is good for people who don't want/enjoy crafting skills. I personally enjoy crafting.
I'm just tired of the people saying the dead thrall spell is garbage and possibly turning people away who would actually enjoy using thralls.

The middle path leads to liberation. If you want to devote yourself to necromancy only, novice conjuration, necromancy, dark souls, and twin souls are all you need. The conjuration magicka cost reduction for apprentice, adept, expert and master are nice, but not needed. Necromancy spells are generally low cost compared to other spells. The dead thrall spell will cost 593 magicka per cast, so you may want to have conjuration spell cost reduction gear for that. I have only 50% conjuration cost reduction, but I almost never need to cast Dead Thrall in combat.

They sure are with their fur bikinis, and they don't sound like Megatron.

The following link shows you how: http://youtu.be/beYjmhVQSSo
It's in my sig.

The above video will work for any thralls. However, forsworn have the unique trait of being able to use any FORSWORN armor you give them, so you can upgrade and enchant any FORSWORN armor and the thralls will equip it once you leave the cell (i.e. fast travel to a different location).

They are according to the game files.

I pulled the data directly from the leveled lists in skyrim.esm with FNVEdit.

That is how I got the baseID to spawn the dremora valynaz.

I took a screenshot of the data if you want to see for yourself: http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk40/Toughmeat48/Skyrim/dremorastats.png

It is entirely possible for them to be only level 27, they are basic melee. You can get 100 in heavy armor and two handers well before level 27, and you don't even need 100 skill to be highly effective.

The reason your dremora lords beat those valynaz at the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon is because the dremora that spawn at that shrine spawn with iron and steel weapons. Your dremora get daedric greatswords. The ones that spawned in my video had ebony and daedric weapons.

As far as i know nothing could enchance them(they are neither atronarchs nor undead). Maybee only Mystic binding increases their weapon damage. But even only one could almost defeat everything one vs. one except Master Vampires and arch mages. And they woop the floor with forsworn ravagers.(no the dead thrall ones with enchanted equipment of course)

The ones that spawned at the shrine had enchanted higher tiers weapons like glass. The ones in Azuras Star had only iron greatswords.

Were the valynaz going after you or your follower instead of the dremora lords? It could be any number of reasons really, it's not impossible or rare for lower level enemies to beat higher level ones, just unlikely. Besides, they have similar skill levels, the valynaz just have more health.

The dremoras form mehrunes shrine are very strange. On the first time i meet them. One was unarmed and the other was using an iron weapon with a crap enchantment. Now after i head back there, they were using ebony weapons with insane fire enchantments.

the dremora outside the shrine scale to your level up to ~46 where they have the name [dremora valkyanaz] or some such.

the dremora everywhere else are locked when you first meet them.

Tried a female dual-wielding ravager with legendary forsworn swords and enchantments that increased onehanded damage.
She oneshotted bandit bosses and threeshooted dead lords on master...(holy crap)
To bad she got lost somewhere.

Dremora Lords you summon are 46 level, with 345 health, 100 two handed and 193 armor.

Dremora Valynaz spawned via console are 46 level, with 545 health, 100 two handed and 193 armor.

In short, Dremora Lords aren't quite as bad as you make them out to be, but it is true smithing + enchanted thalls destroy all other summons.

Guess I was wrong about the summoned dremora lord thing, it happens. I based my info from what I could get from the data files.

The player level didnt matter at all? Also 345 health seems a little bit low.(even bandit marauders have more health)
But maybee they also a high level block(atleast they "waste" a lot of time blocking)
