Drones for Fallout 4?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:07 pm

Sort of like flying eyebots which carry stuff. Think of the drones we have today delivering supplies over Amazon and such. You can deliver items to NPC's in other locations by drones, and you can even shoot down drones for the loot they are carrying.

Not impossible we might see such drones, tho ultimately the Fallout franchise is about tech folks of the 1950 imagen the future would have (and coming true, unlike real life)

Yes eyebots and other robots exist in Fallout. Tie a basket to one and it's a flying drone.

Now I imagine myself throwing everything I find inside the basket to see if I can get an achievement.

Another idead is tie a dead body to an eye bot and send it floating away to keep the enemies from finding the body......:)

That's a pretty good idea, I'll have to experiment with that. If they have a basket or bucket with a handle you might actually be able to slide it onto a protectron's arm or something. Put a bucket on one arm and put a sun hat on it's head.

Strangely enough, I actually suggested a Spy Drone as the special reward for finding all of the Perception books.

I do think that something like the ones you mention here could also work, although their functionality may already have been covered by the brahmin caravans we are able to send between settlements. But it's still a really good idea :)

Not as long as you call it drones.

Drones are a modern development and term. They do not fit the main theme of a future imagined by a 1950s person and then nuked to hell.

Now you might be tempted to call it semantics, but I'd call it cultural background of the Fallout games and a large part of what gives the games their own identity.

Additionally Eyebots, as mentioned by others, are pretty much fitting what you want. After all Ed-E was, at the beginning of Fallout NV when the Courier finds it, meant to be a courier itself.

So, in the theme of Fallout, name it a robot or a bot - but don't use modern terms like drones. My 2 cents.

Pretty much this, the retro-futuristic ascetic should remain fairly consistent. I would love to have another eyebot companion (or something similar). Hell i can even picture someone collecting and reprogramming all those leftover enclave eyebots and using them for damn near anything

Well if you think about it, Ed-E was a drone. It could scout and if necessary, attack when need be.

So if you're suggesting that we should be able too use eyebots as some kind of drone for recon, security, or defense, than yeah, I'm all for it. But if you're thinking like modern drones, please refer too Blinzler's comment. Lets keep too our 1950's retro theme.

It also doesn't have to be a robot, maybe a trained bloatfly can do same thing and you don't have to call it "drone"

Anything that looks remotely big enough to haul anything heavy away, my first instinct is to shoot it until it hauls ME away.

Only if there is an NPC named Rand Paul who stands on a soapbox ranting like the guy in Seward Square on how unethical they are.

I'd like more eyebots, ED-E in my unbiased opinion is the best robot to have ever existed in any form of media.

Well, he's a good second place, in my unbiased opinion, to Fisto. Just kidding. If they do another robot companion, it will be hard to top ED-E. Especially Lonesome Road's version.

Lol, gee I wonder if you are an ED-E fan! I liked ED-E but it's a toss up for between ED-E and HK-47 from KotOR. I found him so amusing!

There were drones in the fifties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_unmanned_aerial_vehicles#Cold_War

I'm not sure when they started using the word drone. But they had them.

Well if we're gonna have drones delivering goods, they should be delivering 50s culture appropriate mail order items, like Sea Monkeys, X-Ray Glasses, or maybe a book that adds +1 to Strength so you can stop those guys kicking sand in your face at the beach and impress the girls.

:)
