Drop Lit Torches causes crashes when dropping torch from Bow

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 6:50 pm

Any ideas why? I have never had a problem when drawing my blunt weapons or blade weapons, only the bow. I'll post the scripts if need-be, but I've done that before and never got a reply.

The torch is held in the opposite hand from the blade/blunt, but same hand as the bow. The shield is processed differently, as it is only held when the weapon hand has a weapon in it, although there is some similarity between the shield replacing the torch, and the bow replacing a blade/blunt. Bottom line is probably that blade/blunt can be used at the same time as a torch, but a bow can't ever be held at the same time as a torch.

None of that explains why the crashes happen, but it does explain why the circumstance is unique.

Interesting. Yes, that could be the circumstance. I'd still like to know why it crashes sometimes.

My guess, judging by your posts, you have a heavily modded game. This introduces more crashes to your game experience. You may have some mod doing something with your bows.

I have never had the game crash when using bows, weapons with or without shields and drawing them or putting them away. In relation to the torch also being held.

If I have a shield equipped, or a bow, the torch is 'put away' when I draw the weapon. The torch comes back when I sheath the weapon.

Well that's not Drop Lit Torches then. Whenever I draw a weapon (bow, blade, blunt), the torch is dropped to the floor. But you are right. I do have a heavily modded game. 177 mods, and I'm about to install all the Unique Landscapes. I think. A bow mod I'm using is Duke Patrick's Double Knock Arrow. Perhaps that is what's causing the occasional crash.

Or the mod that 'drops' your torch.

Well, the scripts are mostly identical to the ones used by OOO. I haven't read anything about people having problems with OOO, so I have my suspicions if it's the DLT scripts. It could be though.

Key word, 'mostly'. :lmao:

It could also be a combination of the mods you have installed. A little conflict and instability starts.
The act of dropping the torch could then be the last straw that breaks the camels back.

I only have 12 mods installed and most of those are my own creations. My game is very stable.

I'm sure your game is stable with only 12 mods. There's no way I could play the game with that few mods. I like the stuff you've released. Are you running mods that haven't been released to the public? If so what are they?

I have a number of my own personal mods that contain numerous game play fixes that I like. My own version of my favorite clothing mods all bundled together. Updates to a number of my released mods, my own private class and birthsigns and race fixes. I even have a 'Heavenly Pleasures' mod I made on the waterfront but never released. It needs more work before it would be releaseable and that will probably never happen since I have moved on to Fallout 3. Here is some info I had on it: http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/882-wip-house-of-heavenly-pleasures/

Ah, you've given up on modding Oblivion huh? Too bad. Judging by the number of released mods and the number of daily, active forum topics, I'd say Oblivion is more popular than Fallout.
