Drop Shooting! (Slide Shooting)

Post » Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:36 pm

If you have watched the guns choir trailer there is a part in the video where a guy slides along the ground toward an enemy and shoots at the same time at a guy making it hard for the player getting shot at him to kill him.

If you have played the cod series people can drop on the ground and shoot you the moment they see you and get an advantage too kill you. Known as (Drop shooting)

So will being able to slide across the ground and shoot an enemy be something that might be a pain in the game?

The moment you get back up can you slide again, or is there a time limit between sliding?

If im wrong about any of this let me know, Ive watched the video alot and Im allways wondering about this let me know?

Will this be a problem in the game?

the correct term is drop shotting, not shooting. and idk i hope not, i hate drop shotting bc i simply dont seem to be able to do it very well.

I don't think it will. I'm sure there is a time gap between when you can slide and also...........just melee him? I mean, chances are hes coming to slide tackle you so.....melee him in the face..

Not to mention that sliding slows you down and locks you into a certain path for a small window of time. And hopefully the animation will be a lot better than the dropshot animation where someone is standing in one frame then on the ground the next.

SD has been working on balancing this game for far longer than any other shooter I'm aware of. I don't think anyone should go into the game expecting certain aspects to be unbalanced before they even play. I'm not claiming they will do a perfect job, but they are surely going to be spending a lot of time on glaring issues like "dropshots".

shooting while sliding imposes a big penalty to accuracy.

Bear in mind the guy has a shotgun. He was always going to win at that range, anyway.

It'll probably be a good way to get an easy first shot on a lone opponent, nothing more.
If the dev team has half a brain between them, they'll have already seen that this is the kind of thing people love to exploit, and will have put some penalty on it - be it accuracy, cooldown, etc.

Personally, I think people who rely on this will just be setting themselves up to become the world's easiest headshot target. People won't even have to aim up to get your head!

It's not pointless if you manage to surprise your enemy that way.

And hopefully the animation will be a lot better than the dropshot animation where someone is standing in one frame then on the ground the next.

As a matter of fact, drop-shotting is usually an exploit, hence why it is so powerful.

The slide in BRINK (& Crysis 2) however is an intentional feature and thus not completely off the balance-scale.

I'd rather be concerned about those people who master wall-hop-shotting you. ;)

What Nail and Capt. Said. You lose a lot of accuracy, your speed decreases and your movement pattern is predictable, which is a huge disadvantage in a fast paced FPS. I don't think sliding will be problematic. Dropshotters in their previous games got annihilated.

Indeed you should.

Not to big a deal easy to counter. Now slide tackle melee, that's another story.

You also have to build momentum to be able to slide, so you can't spam it :)

It has probably changed some since they recorded the Container City videos, but if you want to see what a slide looks like to the enemy, there's one in Container City part 1 at 2:57.

Quickscoping isn't in BRINK, and you can't insta-kill someone with a light rifle.

You'd probably miss anyways.

Does anyone know about fall damage? I know you can slide to break a fall but If you slid off the top of something as opposed jumping, would that affect fall damage ? Can heavies slide?
