Dropping torches that are still burning

I′ve read somewhere that it′s possible to drop a torch without extinguishing it. How do I do that?

In vanilla of course, if you drop a lit torch, it will go out. If you leave it on the ground, and come back later however, it will be lit. This can be very handy for creating your own fireplaces or campfires that are permanent. You don't have to wait for a full 3 day respawn. I usually exit the cell, save the game and exit. When I come back, the torch is still on the ground, but lit - and will stay that way.

That's another thing I love about this game. After four years, I am still learning new things that were always there.

assuming by 'exiting cell' is meant seeing that loading area transition screen....

isnt this technique a bit limited - ie, probably the most appropriate places to do that are unknown dangerous dungeons / tombs... so, if you're in the middle of the second level of a dungeon, you have to go back to a place with a door like that (sometrimes first level) and come all the way back?

Yes shifting cells means seeing a loading screen and returning :)

I think the 'drop lit torch' mod is included in OOO. I know I can do it and I haven't any other mod specifically for that.

It is indeed useless for providing light while dungeon crawling. Rather, it is useful for providing a permanent fire someplace you intend to come back to. For example, the begger campfire at the Waterfront has a pot and wood, but no fire; in my game it is cheerfully flickering with the flames of three torches. The Thieves Guildmaster quarters lacks fireplaces; not so in my game thanks to torches in the alcoves. Mods like Imperial Furniture can do a better job, but this trick works on any platform. Speaking of mods, there are mods that will allow you to drop a lit torch and have it remain burning, even as you drop it - a mod like that may be closer to what you are looking for. :)
