Drug use in Skyrim

Post » Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:21 am

It would be interesting to see (and would make one more reason to exist) if the drug trade supports in a economic way the war of the rebels against the empire... Or vice versa... This I like to see...

That would certainly add some depth to the MQ, and would probably serve as a good RP incentive for players to decide if they want to support the side that endorses drug trafficking or not

I sense a thread closing soon, mainly because of the talk of using shrooms in real life. The alchohol/drugs in skyrim are probably going to be used mainly for comical purposes, not for seriousness.

Which, ironically, is actually a bigger problem than addressing them as the serious issue they are.

Even in a video game there is nothing comical about drug usage, that is why we call for both the positive (short term) effect as well as it's longer lasting negative effects which are not so easily cured by simply praying at the alter of Skyrim's churches...assuming they even have them. We all know they're just a bunch of godless savages...right? :whistling:

I doubt this thread will get locked, unless it somehow turns into a flame-war. So far so good! I'm not too surprised hallucinations are winning in the poll, but it seems like a lot of people are interested in the potential this could have for quests and story arcs. If Bethesda takes this subject seriously and handles it in a mature way in the game, it could add some welcome depth and realism (not to mention grittiness) to the world of Skyrim

I've never partaken of moon sugar or skooma -- it's much more useful to sell!

Then you obviously picked the drug dealer option. I selected everything.

Yes for all except drug dealing.

Personally, I'd love for them to implement multiple causes in the game for some Fallout 3 Vault-106-like-hallucinations. Like really creepy/eerie stuff.

Certainly didn't do Syd Barret any favors did they?

Indeed, they were a great source of income in morrowind.

I voted yes to everything.

I should be able to chug 8 bottles of skooma and wind up half dead in a gutter without any clothes while lying next to a Khajiit with a lamp shade on his head.

I beg to differ. Comedy can be found in ANYTHING. You just need a sense of and an appreciation of sick humor.

I honestly wouldn't mind it. Would definitely be different considering.

Some horror moments in Skyrim would be very welcome, drug-induced or otherwise

Oh look, another one of these threads.

I voted "Yes" and checked the top four options.

If these items are to be in the game anyway, I would like them to be handled the same as before in that they increase some things while decreasing others. Introducing addiction effects a la Fallout would be cool. And I would find it amusing if there were visual effects implemented.

That's about as much detail as I think they should go. Maybe some minor quest lines, but I personally don't think I'd be interested in a "drug dealer" faction or anything like that. For lack of a better word it seems "stupid" and not really relevant/suitable/conducive to TES.
