Druids Revisited: Build and Discussion

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:40 am

Way back when i 1st joined i did a guide on Shamans but i added in Druids and Rangers to that build thread because of how similar each class was. But now i feel that i want to invest a little bit more into my Druid build and would like some feedback. As with all my builds this is recommended only for RP.

The Druid (Mage-Support)
Race: Khajiit, Argonian, Bosmer, Dunmer, Orc, Breton
Stone: Atronach, Lady, Apprentice, Mage
Shout: Animal Allegiance, Kyne's Peace. Dismay
Prime Skills: Restoration, Conjuration, Destruction
Secondary Skills: Enchanting, Alchemy, Light Armor (Optional)
RP Items: Forsworn Armor, Kyne's Token, Savior's Hide, Robes, Fur
Followers: Heavy Armored Warriors
Purpose: The Mage Support Druid is a Healer who keeps their follower alive so that they can slay the enemy. Conjuration is for summoning Familiars for extra support and Destruction is for striking your enemy while they are distracted. Enchanting and Alchemy will make you and your follower twice as effective so that you can take on larger threats. Light Armor is really just preference as to whether or not you want it.

The Druid (Mage-Damage)
Race: Khajiit, Argonian, Breton, Dunmer, Orc, Altmer
Stone: Atronach, Lady, Apprentice, Mage
Shout: Animal Allegiance, Kyne's Peace, Dismay
Prime Skills: Destruction, Conjuration, Alteration
Secondary Skills: Enchanting, Alchemy, Light Armor (Optional)
RP Items: Forsworn Armor, Kyne's Token, Savior's Hide, Fur, Robes, Staff
Followers: Archers, Light Armored Warriors
Purpose: The Mage Damage Druid is meant to be the focus of the enemy but be so powerful that you can take on anything. Destruction and/or a staff will be your primary method of dealing damage and should be focused on the most. Conjuration is for extra support from Familiars and Banishing Daedra. Alteration is for increasing your survival odds since you will be the enemy's focus. Alchemy and Enchanting will once again give you an advantage over your enemy and Light Armor is preference.

The Druid (Warrior)
Race: Khajiit, Argonian, Orc, Nord, Dunmer, Bosmer
Stone: Lady, Lord, Serpent, Warrior
Shout: Animal Allegiance, Kyne's Peace, Dismay
Prime Skills: Alteration, 1H/2H/Archery, Conjuration
Secondary Skills: Alchemy, Enchanting, Light Armor, Smithing (Optional)
RP Items: Forsworn Armor/Weapons, Savior's Hide/Ring of Hircine, Fur, Lycanthropy
Followers: Archers, Mages
Purpose: The Druid Warrior is an all-around Druid class that takes can handle any situation. Choose a Weapon skill (most befitting to your preference)from either Archery, 1H, or 2H. Conjuration for summoning familiars or even bound weapons. Alteration for improved armor rating. Alchemy and Enchanting...need i repeat? Light Armor is recommended this time. Ensure you have a support follower and be sure to get Lycanthropy for those desperate battles.

The Druid (Beastial)
Race: Khajiit, Argonian, Dunmer, Orc, Nord
Stone: Lord, Lady, Serpent, Shadow
Shout: Animal Allegiance, Kyne's Peace, Dismay
Prime Skills: Alteration, Restoration, Destruction, Conjuration, 1H(Optional)
Secondary Skills: Alchemy, Enchanting, Light Armor, Sneak (Optional)
RP Items: Forsworn Armor, Kyne's Token, Ring of Hircine/Savior's Hide, Fur, Lycanthropy
Followers: Dogs
Purpose: The Beastial Druid is all about the Lycanthropy and is a mix of Mage and Warrior outside of transformations. Alteration for Defense, Destruction for Offense, Restoration and Conjuration for Support. 1H weapons are useful for staying on the offensive while you heal. The Ring of Hircine is the most recommended for this since you will want to be a Lycan for most every battle that is outside the view of the main towns. Dogs make good followers for this class becausee they wont shoot you on accident and you dont have to worry about their gear or class. (Plus from an RP standpoint it fits)

Ok those are the variants for the Druid i have come up with. I will be using the Beastial but i highly recommend that you all try one of the classes, it especially works for the "Survival Mode" style many have. Comments are most welcomed

Druid is a word for a Celtic priest so I think of Bretons as being the druid race of TES. I picture the wizardsof High Rock to be something like Celtic druids.Like Merlin from King Arthur or Gandalf from LOTR.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druid

Shamans I think of Dunmer as in the ashlander shamans of Morrowind. That or maybe Argonians

But a priest is just a priest and therefore would be a dull build, this is the Ole Fantasy Shapeshifter/Mage kind of Druid that all the Nerds know

Ok after playing the Beastial for a few days i can say that the Animal RP style is very fun and you feel very immersed as you obtain more animal related things. So far i am a Lycan, wear the Stormcloak officer helm, have the ring of hircine, i use the serpent stone, and i have Kyne's Totem/token/whatever. With the build yu can find something for every situation and it is pretty awesome. Seriously though... go and try one of the builds

I've thought of a druid shapeshifter build myself, going the werewolf route.

My problem (with everything werewolf-related, really) is that I can't imagine shifting into beast form before every fight.

Even if you limit it to 'important' fights (and who doesn't get locked in mortal combat at least 20 times a day in Skyrim?), there are issues, as:

A) shifting takes time,
B) fighting in beastform nets you zero experience for levelling up, and
C) being in beastform denies you the ability to take advantage of your skills.

B and C are my biggest issues, and would be resolved by the addition of a lycanthropy skill/perk tree.

But until we have such a tree, every time I shift into beastform I can't help but feel like I'm missing out on training up my One-handed, or Block, or whatever.

On youtube I saw a shape-shifting mod that gives you spelltomes of transforming into almost all creatures. (even giants and mammoths)
That is alot of spelltomes...anyway this means you could also turn into a bear for example. (which fits druids)
It was pretty buggy though, and some of the forms could not attack.
