Dual daggers.

Anyone tried this?

I always use them as backup for my Archer when backed into a corner while using a paralysis poison. Not to mention they have very little carry weight and it just seems to help my roleplaying alot instead of carrying around swords, they seem less assassiny if you know what i mean.

Currently i play on expert as i always have and i'm thinking about moving up to master, are they still viable? and am i spreading my perks too thin by investing in one-handed AND Archery? :unsure2:

One Handed is an excellent backup for Archery.

Daggers can be useful of you take the perk that gives you 15x damage.

But what about in open combat, on master?

Daggers, along with one handed and sneak work wonders. Duel daggers with the right one handed perks are incredibly fast. And like you said if you put the right enchantment on them like paralysis, thats an even deadlier combo.

Pure archer builds should always include one handed for insurance.

With Skyrims crafting/skill system everything is "good".

First of, it's playable(on master), as long as you use smithing and/or enchanting.

(high smithing improvements+enchantments result in insane DPS)

But dual daggers in open combat have one big issue.

Reach... especially dual power atk.

Swords are the better choise in my eyes but like i said, it's possible to play dual daggers.

When you attack out in the open with dual daggers, try to rush in and get a quick flurry, then back way the hell off, and circle. Try and give yourself a breather, even it's about four seconds, to prepare the next attack. Always keep moving.

If you have the perk that slows a power attack... you just run behind them and get some more hits in before dancing away. If I can get a summons fired off during this dance, then I can get enough distance to break out the bow again, and really bring the heat.

I'm currently playing a Dagger/Sword dual welder but I can considering just adding another sword or axe in the off hand. To be honest I'm not sure the Perks for One-Handed Blades even work for daggers since they get special attention for sneak attacks that regular blades don't. The reach thing is the other problem. I swear even with a standing power attack I'm missing with my dagger hand half the time. I thought about added a flame enchantment to the dagger just so I would know it's hitting or not, but I think I'm to the point that I know that daggers just are not very viable in open melee.

Just look at the Dark Brotherhood members that randomly attack you using dual daggers. Avoiding their attacks is incredibly easy, just take one step backwards.

Daggers with the "shadow warrior" sneak perk is crazy, you'll have a lot of fun with it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO7Ch2sk1AA

Dual daggers is a broken feature for two reasons:

First, the power attack is bugged. Instead of slashing with the dominant hand, the PC flips the dagger in his or her grip. Your damage output is the same as using one dagger.

Second, the dual-weild hotkey system is a horrible fiasco.

I started playing thief recently and run into dual wield issues and dual dagger issues. I made two mods to fix all the issues that I experienced: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/35652 which allows use of hotkeys to equip dual wield set and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/36453 which fixes dual dagger power attack not having benefit from Dual Flurry perks and Elemental Fury shout. Hope you find those useful if you are bothered by the same issues as I was.

Note that Fortify One Handed Perks don't affect daggers... though a nice pair of assassin's gauntlets would somewhat help with that issue in sneaky situations...

I'm hours away from starting an assasin, thief, archer, dual daggers character for the first time.

Any advice?

Dual daggers, Bow, any light armour, Sneak and smithing. A hunters way of surviving.

I ma currently into another Assassin character. She has only used her bow so far and sneak attack everything possible. Now, that her sneak skill is evolving, she can start working on her backstabs.

However, I have left the vanilla game behind. SkyRe is a whole different kitty. The last perk in the Sneak tree is Assassinate. I mean, how much 1H skill does one need to cut someone's throat with a razor? It is more about the sneak. In the mean time, she'll be continuing with her Archery and Alchemy.

OP... That combination of Dual Daggers w/ two Paralyze enchants is almost gamebreaking for me. I mean... it keeps an enemy on the ground. The reach of a standard swing with a dagger and a sword is negotiable. Just stand to a wall and fudge away until you miss with them and see.

Not PAing, but standard swing, as that will keep the constant blade on the enemy for the longest and they can't get up.

I started my first SkyRE rogue as well two days ago and having a blast. Sneak feels much better (and challenging), and I really like the dual wield perks as well. Fingersmith tree kicks ass, too.

Hell... they all kick ass! :bunny:

So far she is level 29 and has only perked Marksmanship, Smithing, Alchemy and Wayfarer. She has put one perk into the sneak tree. She stays as far away as possible. Well, for now. She can get within 20 feet or so of a n enemy in the dark. She is a tactician, with explosive arrows, sticky bombs, fire runes and the amazing ability to craft, use and poison bear traps. ( God I love those... )

I tried to find a nice little Cat Suit for her, when she dungeon delves, but it was either too skimpy or just outright stupid. I settled for a black retexture of the DB outfit. She is ready to join them and then it's off to get the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13133/?. Then she can do some serious interior ventures.
