1. Most real life hand to hand combat systems are self defense, right? The idea with self defense is to let your enemy strike first and redirect his energy against him, right?
2. I’ve been reading that Skyrim’s block system is reactive and based on timing, i.e. you have to block at the right time for it to be effective.
3. Also, confirmed block skill perks: Shield Wall, Deadly Bash, Power Bash, Bash Disarm, Shield Charge, Deflect Arrows, Elemental Protection, Quick Reflexes.
4. We’ve heard rumors for and against H2H as a skill in Skyrim but at the very least there has been confirmation in at least one interview that playing as a monk a.k.a. “unarmed combat specialist” is a viable play style.
Now I know what you’re thinking, who would run around with two big clunky shields equipped at the same time? How ridiculous would that look? But what if they were really small shields? Maybe even just arm guards?
Honestly, this is all almost pure conjecture on my part but it seems like it could be a pretty fun play style. Imagine if one of the Dragon Shouts is some kind of taunt to get enemies to start attacking you so you can use those nice shiny block perks. Even just a frenzy spell (which has also already been confirmed) would complete this build.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the subject; needless to say we’re all pretty anxious for November to get here, huh? lol
