F3 & NV Dual Weild?

Post » Tue Nov 23, 2010 7:50 am

Something like a toggle to switch between dual and single if you want to use iron sights? Holding two 10mm SMGs though, who needs to aim? =D

and then we take the plunge into the series becoming completely an FPS and i stop wanting to play it. There are so many games that have dual wield just play those.

as long as there was no V.A.T.S or even with 100 gun skill your spread and hit% would drop alot, but i think there are other things that would be more useful then dual wielding like driving motorcycles through the wastelands

Finally... It'd figure the first replies I'd get would be from jerk0ff5. Dual weilding wouldn't change the game mechanics. It would still be F3 NV in all it's greatness. I just think being able to weild two handguns or SMGs would be cool. I wouldn't go as far as DWing ARs or machineguns. Two Fatboy MIRVs would be a hoot though!

No, no and thrice no.

Dual wield is a gimicky FPS piece of poop, and should be only allowed in FPS's and action films where realism doesn't enter into the equation (yes I said realism as an argument for Fallout  ).

I wouldn't mind it being there, but i wouldn't use it. "One shot, one kill", not "spray and pray" ;)

The one of my characters that does rely on "spray and pray" would have to able dual wield miniguns :D

Exactly,

Furthermore, duel wielding would nullify iron sights mode unless you only had one weapon equipped, strictly prohibited to hand guns and single handed melee and unarmed weapons. If I was in the wasteland and had 2 9mms I may like to have one in each hand. There is modding for big weapons if people could pill it off. (which I sure someone could.)

Probably a decent accuracy penalty as well.

One of the main agruements we had before the game came out was that why would use dual weilding in the wasteland, it just seems like a waste of ammo where coming across vast ammo isnt feasable.

I'd love to see a third choice on the poll:

OH HELL NO!

That's really the one I'd choose over 'nah I'm good with 1 hand'.

As most of the others have said. If you want dual wield gunslinging, go play some FPS.

I love DW guns, specaily since we have in this game slow relod, short capasity in ammo weapons. Like the magnums, being able to dual wild those for those that like to do it could be awesome.
and if you entyer VAST, you can mark all shots of one gun to X enemy and all the hots of Y gun to another. making a real cool animation! i think it could be a option!

in some games like Call of juares.you loose the option to aim, but you fire your off hand weapon with the right button.

so in the end you losse acourasy, but you gain DPS. a fair trade in my opinions in 1h weapons.

I have plenty of ammo to spare, but I'd be more excited about using two ballistic gloves or Gladius Machetes. Make it Melee/Unarmed only.

I'm trying to appease you.

To be honest, it's just an unfeasable practice. All tests have proven that accuracy drops severely whilst doing it, thus ammo consumption goes up. It's actually worse than just plugging away with a angle weapon. I honestly don't want to give myself a disadvantage in a wasteland ready to rip me apart.

It wouldn't nullify anything if it was a toggle. Hit a key, dual weild, hit it again, single/iron sight. Switch to one to conserve ammo, toggle again if you're backpedaling from 3+ enemies trying to cover an escape... which I find myself doing often.

Why stop at two? A gun can fit in your mouth, too, so why not triple wielding? Quadruple wielding?

not really, how don't know how strategically you play but sometimes i think through an encounter for awhile before initiating, be nice to have more tools at your disposal.

Sneaking coming up to a room of say Powder Gangers, lay down a few mines. Equip two 357s, hop up start blasting at the largest group killing probably two of 5. Run away loose another one or two to the mines. Turn around and blast the last one or two reload maybe 3 times and little or no damage done to me.

But I don't know it may not be a good idea.

First of all... I'm going to have to say that I wish this poll had an 'I could go either way on it' option.

Dual Wielding is, to be fair, an ability in games which often ends up being broken. The truth of the matter is... I -can- and -have- fired two 9mm handguns with relatively low loss of accuracy. Whatever someone's favorite TV Show/Magazine/Old Person might like to tell them, I know better... when it comes to me. And I know it can be done. In a practical combat situation, though, it would be one of those things where you'd be making a very tactical decision. You give up the ability to aim -precisely-... and instead rely upon depth perception... while also taking away your ability to stabilize the gun as you fire it.

That makes for -difficulty- aiming. But not impossibility... and certainly not this monstrous lack of realism so many folks here have been railing about. If all the purists want to come rag on this question because they feel impotent against the merging of so many genres into other games which aren't traditionally of that genre... I figure it's their choice. They invite disaster, though, when they make ignorant comments such as 'Go play an FPS'... as some folks, like me, who happen to be a BIG fan of RPG's... take offense to this.

I shouldn't -have- to go play a game that svcks... or I don't enjoy... to enjoy a certain feature employed by that genre.

I -like- Dual Wielding. I -like- Dual Wielding when it is done RIGHT. Firearms become less accurate (I would say, for Fallout, depending on your strength, endurance, and skill with them), but you can put a lot of bullets in a person with a pair of nine-mils if you find yourself toting around two of them. Alternately, a PAIR of knives... blades... or any other weapon which is one-handed would be ENTIRELY feasible. In fact, it is historically COMMON.

So I say again. If it were to be done WELL by someone... then sure. I'd love to see it implemented.

If it would up going the way of most FPS-style implementations, however, I would just as soon do without it.

Dualling obviouslly wouldn't be appropriate when sniping at a single target. If you have a room full of targets in close proximity then yeh dualing would be fun and it would work. Reminds me of the destabiliser from Mothership Zeta, had a nice automatic rate of fire which was good for spraying at targets that were close together but not as useful in other circumstances.

I would prefer say an SMG in one hand and sawn off shotgun in the other, hose em down as they close in then finish em off with the boomstick.

I love the FPS element to this game and wouldn't mind adding anything that enhances the FPS gameplay/experience.
