Dual Weild Two Handers

Post » Mon Oct 18, 2010 12:34 pm

Titan's grip like in World of Warcraft for the warrior class allows you to dual wield two-handed weapons but for half the speed. If it was a perk with extremely high skill/strength requirements.. maybe. otherwise no.

not directed at you, just the idea.

No, no, no...no way, NO. :swear:
I do not want anything in Elder-Scrolls to ever be anything like WOW.
Shouldn't even be compared to any other game, Elder-Scrolls is it's own genre lol

Oh, hell no! They call them two-handed weapons for a reason- not coincidentally, it's the same reason they don't call them "one-in-each-hand" weapons.

I am saying no, and don't even feel I have to explain, yet again, why.

Maybe as a perk for two-handed, high level of course. Reminds me of a barbarian feat from Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2, Hero's Arm, which allowed you to equip two-handed weapons with one hand and could be combined with Two-Weapon Fighting.

There will surely be a mod for it eventually, so it's really not a big deal.

I hope I can dual wield two handed weapons. Then I can run around and shout "Big [censored]in Axes!" Maybe i can make that my character's shout too.

Well that would be great if you specialize in combat leading up to that, it should come with some major penalties though, slowly decreasing as you get better at it.

Well... first - it's technically possible in the TES universe to wield a two-handed weapon in one hand - Xivalai and Skeleton Champions already do.

I think it'd be fine if that was a possibility, and even dual-wielding them IF the game was set up the way I think it should be set up anyway.

1. No laughably unrealistic reduced encumbrance perks - if you carry it, it's encumbrance.
2. Weapon damage is modified by the number of hands used to swing, so a two-handed weapon in one hand would do about the same damage as a comparable one-handed weapon.
3. Reach has advantages and disadvantages - you can hit things further away, but if they get inside your reach, it's actually harder to hit them.
4. Weapon speed is modified by weight and leverage, so a two-handed weapon in one hand would be dreadfully slow.

With all those things (and maybe more I haven't thought of right off) AND with it being the absolute top level two handed weapon perk - sure - go for it.

Why not? They're doing it in Star Wars now (see the Clone Wars Season 4 trailer for what I mean)

But seriously, no. I love dual wielding, but I agree that having dual 2handers would be ridiculous.

So, I was playing Oblivion and I made spell that magically increased my naturally strong, fully-trained Orc warrior's strength... and people start complaining about realism only once that Orc picks up a real-life weapon of large stature with one hand as a person may attempt to do in real life?

neverwinter nights had um, monkey grip perk if I recall right. Which allowed for using a 2 hander with one hand. However I think it reduced damage as well?

Ever wondered why they're called TWO-handed weapons? They're meant for two hands. This isn't WoW, and you aren't a Fury Warrior.

No, this is The Elder Scrolls, where you can easily be an imaginary race of natural strength with a strength-increasing spell and possibly some demigod/reincarnation of a god (like the CoC being a Shezarrine as Pelinal's successor)/successor to a god (like the CoC becoming Sheogorath, Prince of Madness) background. Plus, you can shoot fire out of your hands, fight ghosts, attach souls to weapons, and witness environments non-existant, and sometimes not even possible, in real life.

People, think about what you're saying instead of blindly claiming "This isn't another game so it can't have anything another game does!". Think about what's wrong with that statement that forms the base of what people around love to say, as well.

Two handed weapons are two handed because they are two big to hold in one hand. So maybe if you got your strength high enough.

Not only that (Although its a BIG reason why) but when you have a two-handed weapon and you do hold it in one hand there is major balance issues it is increadibly hard to hold if up in a correct fighting position its hard to swing it use-fully because its so long ,they arn't agile enough to be useful because you cant angle it in niches in the armor and because they are so in-agile the only reason they are useful is length (at the loss that anyone close enough to you has a MAJOR advantage) and strength with both arms but if you have one in each hand it isnt enough for to be useful and you would often end up stabbing yourself and clashing the swords to gather and lastly without a shield you could only block with your sword so when you block with your sword it would be amazingly hard to strike with the other sword without hitting your other sword, yourself or the ground.

Don't see the appeal in this dual wielding crap.
Sure two axes will be fun to use with an Orc or two shields with a Redguard but other than that what is the big fuzz about?
Another weapon = double the murderous fun or somethin?
