Dual Wield - How exactly will it work?

Post » Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:55 pm

Will L-mousebutton control your lefthand swing, spell,&shield bash while R-mousebutton controls your righthand swing and spell?

What would be the block button?

Also

The core change is the addition of a two hands/two options approach to combat. Every weapon or spell in the game can be equipped in either hand at any time, leading to limitless combinations of attack options.

How would it lead to limitless combos? Does each weapon have different attacks? Do they chain?

Your thoughts on how it will work? I honestly have no clue.

I think it might be implemented the way Dual-Wield pistols were in Left 4 Dead, the attack button just makes them attack in a pattern.

Now for magic, I think it might be a bit more complex depending on which spell you want to go with first.

Say, I wanted to cast an Electrocute spell to smash through another person's barrier, and then I wanted to cast Paralyze from my other hand to stick them to their shadow. I'm wondering how I would make sure that the Electrocute spell came first.

Hopefully we'll get more details soon.

One button for each hand, block button would be a separate button

It could work like this: Right hand - Left mouse button (I know that's counter intuitive but left click is the main button on the mouse), left hand = right mouse button, block = alt button (and you could switch left hand and block if you feel like you would block more)

for Xbox: Right hand = right trigger, left hand = left trigger, block = A button or (edited) left shoulder button.

Or on pc: holding both mouse buttons and on xbox: holding both triggers. I think it could work fine

Until more information is released, most of us have nothing but guesses.

actually i think they might just do it right hand first and then left hand assuming you have two weapons or two spells equipped. the only time this would change is when people play a lefty and they have a shield in their right hand. i played a game that utilized both mouse buttons for combat and after awhile your middle finger gets sore. maybe its because im not use to using it that much but im assuming that issue popped up in playtesting.
