Absolutely. I see no reason to special-case dual wielding, if you're strong enough to swing an item that big with each hand, let the claymores fly. If you aren't, well, that's what magic's for.

Considering the wrist has very few muscles, it'd not be something you could train for, you'd physically need to be able to support it, mainly with your bones which for an unbalanced sword almost as long as you... ain't gunna happen. Also if you could use magic to over come it, why not use magic to swing it around like a phantom sword...?

No. Even if you were strong enough to swing two you would have no dexterity, balance or precision with them and no competent warrior would think it was an effective strategy.

Anyone who is against dual-wielding claymores:

That's an example of a great sword :)

An important detail in Demon's Souls is that you're powered by the souls of mighty demons. You're not entirely human anymore. I personally use a crushing +5 claymore and shield in Demon's Souls. :hubbahubba: It wouldn't work in Skyrim though.

Ugh. [censored] it. You guys obviously have no concept of what a muscular 280 lb. Nord is capable of.

I think that main problem here is that it would screw up balance and make one-handed and two-handed weapons actually have no difference.
Anyway, no.

A claymore is a two handed weapon so if you have four hands you can dual-wield them. If you don't, then no. Simple as that.

Well I guess you could try, but you would probably break your wrist :P

I think the size ratio of the player and the sword isn't quite right. I don't think it's so much the strength, but the length of the arms and height of the player from the ground is what counts most. Both of those and strength would be needed. I don't really see the animation looking too impressive either, even if everything is aligned. The clunky effort going into two swords, could be better used with one massive weapon of the same combined length.

We all have different ways of imagining things though. Your energy and endurance is really not worth it either. Just swinging a heavy sword with one arm can take a lot out of someone. That's even without impact and balance being involved. Shorter weapons are best for a much less predictability.

The only way I could side with it, is if you mostly used one sword as more of a shield. That would be no more than a diluted shield. The only pro being less weight than a shield perhaps.

I actually think it will be the claymore that breaks your wrist... hmm...

I love this poll. Even in Skyrim General Discussion, common sense can still reign. ^_^

The argument that it has less to do with weight and more to do with balance and the sword's impact has already been made, so I just want it noted that I agree.

I'm hoping in Skyrim that longswords can be used as one or two handed weapons, with advantages for being held with 2 hands (because obviously 1-hand has an extra space), because that's common to do in reality, to hold it on 2 hands to increase the control and speed of your movements.

Claymores are freakin heavy, it would be pretty much impossible to dual wield tem and keep balance, even if you possessed the strength of Thor. So no, why would anyone eever 2-hand wielding anything if you could simply get the right perk and dual wield it

The only thing that could dual wield two claymores effectively, is a human or other race grown to a size big enough that a claymore is a long sword in relation to said size. That thing would then use longswords as daggers. So the only thing that we would see dual wielding claymores would be Mehrunes Dagon.

This is actually a brilliant Idea, they should add this, specially with the new dual wield system. Wielding it two handed should have increased damage and speed

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last I checked TES had both magic AND incredibly powerful characters. Thor is smalltime.

because the world has magic in it, doesn't mean gravity doesn't apply, and so far I havent seen any evidence that 100 strength is supposed to mean you have the power of a god

Using a one handed weapon with two hands has been confirmed in. ^^

OT:
Skyrim's "Epic Reality" has no place for dual wielding heavy weapons because it requires two hands to block with a weapon.

It's not about "is this feasible" (in our world it is not) but about "game balance" instead.

This isn't an anime, this isn't World of Warcraft so please, no. The world of TES tries to take itself rather seriously for being a world full of gods magic and elves.
