Dual Wielding Confirmed

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 10:47 pm

In this article, just after the picture of the pipboy, there's mention of 'gun nut' giving the player the ability to dual-wield weapons.

http://www.htxt.co.za/2015/08/07/fallout-4-gamescom-preview/

Is this the first mention of dual wielding in fallout 4?

Also do you think we'll be able to wield a melee weapon with a gun? Like a sword-smg combo etc.

EDIT: The article has now been edited and doesn't contain any mention of dual wielding...

"The first few minutes of the action involved Vault Boy carving through Ghouls with an assortment of weapons such as the Plasma Rifle, the Flame Thrower and a scoped Shotgun."

Wait what? VAULT BOY? :bonk:

Given his description of the bloody mess perk I would question the authenticity of his assumptions somewhat. But hey who knows, maybe a buy product of taking gun nut is the ability to dual wield, and maybe bloody mess has changed, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Not sure if I would call it confirmed as no one else has mentioned it, and he was a little off about his description of the Bloody Mess perk. He could be wrong about dual wielding too.

Dual wielding doesn't surprise me, I only hope that it comes with some real drawbacks to it. Higher rate of fire, plus a lower chance of hitting your targets would be a plus to dual wielding, rather than an "I win" situation because you chose to take that perk.

My thoughts exactly

I'm guessing you'd only be able to fire from the hip, similar to not being able to block in skyrim

Oh jeez, I'm hyped for 4, but that article was still too hypey for me. He goofed on the release date, too, but oy by a day so whatever.

I'll take my salt with this article. It seems to be embellishing a lot. But if Gun Nut can enable dual-wielding, and has ranks for crafting, that's... interesting.

Hopefully another article can corrobate this. Or debunk it.

Tho Im sceptical to the journalist claims, I would not be against dual wielding as a mechanic.

The writer's description of the SPECIAL system was a little off (Strength is a skill?), and he got the release date wrong, so I would take the dual-wielding thing with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by another source.

Perhaps the writer thought grenade + gun = dual wield?

I question how truthful this source really is. The article is already ill-informed in some areas, not to mention this just seems like an utterly random source in general. I've never even heard of this website, and you'd think a more popular news outlet like say IGN or GameSpot would have covered this by now as well.

I'm going to go ahead and call BS.

This has got to be the most ill-informed article on Fallout 4 to date. Either he was asleep through most of the demo, or he was distracted playing games on his phone. So many details are just wrong. Vault Boy? SPECIAL skills. Please leave your laptop and notebook at the front desk on your way out!

Sorry OP, and I know it's not your fault, but all this confirms is Mr Cowen's complete lack of journalistic talent or common sense.

EDIT: apologies for the rant. It just really annoys me when so called journalist's are this careless in an official article. It just confuses people and doesn't actually serve any real purpose.

And add no VATS to that.

As well as only handguns.

I meant 'A vault dweller' not 'THE vault dweller'. Meaning someone from a vault

Is New Vegas even canon? A lot of people seem to consider it a spin off.

It's a non-numbered sequel, that doesn't make in non-canon. Redguard is a spinoff, and it's canon to TES.

Until Word of God declares New Vegas as non-canon, there's no reason to believe it isn't canon.

Sure is NV canon (Which ending? We sadly have to wait for this information, looking at when FO4 is set.), as the main events from Tactics are. What real canon is btw, deciedes the developer and not the fan. The fanstuff is fanon  .
