Dual wielding yes or no?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 2:56 am

Oh. Didn't know that's how it worked on PC. I've only played Skyrim on PS3, where you have to select what hand you want to equip the spell to. Though I think there's some kind of hotkey feature that I never used that might work differently.

I have the same playstyle as you and I was annoyed by the same limitation so I created a mod to unequip spells in your left hand via a user-configurable hotkey. Assuming you're on PC, maybe it can be of some use to you? Link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56136/?(it's the one called 'Left Hand Spell Unequip'. It requires SkyUI to set the hotkey).

Dual-wielding?

If it has Bethesda's seal of approval, Vault-Tec stands firmly behind it.

If it's not in the game and you're still complaining about it--you're not playing the game correctly.

shields that could be found or made in the wasteland would not block bullets or lasers.... and even if you had something strong enough it would be too heavy to carry around as a shield

Power Armor could support a Shield of the same material if it wasnt already a living shield

I'd be happy with dual wielding only if the handguns are held correctly, i.e. horizontally and in a raised position pointing slightly downwards. PC should swear appropriately whilst firing. Reloading animation should be PC flicking two magazines up into the air, ejecting used magazines and inserting new magazines as they spin in mid-air, just like how it's done in real life.

Obviously, it's either in or not at this point, but I just want to point out that they already re-balanced everything and shifted core mechanics around. Even brought in...bungie (? can't remember the studio) for consulting on the shooting/combat mechanics. So I'm not sure what current balance is relative to. If it's the current F4 gameplay, then I'd agree - it's far too late to inject something like this into the game. However, if current balance is relative to past games, it's already been blow out of the water.

er? Are you sure? There were no riot shields made in the "time period" fallout history was set in that would be left to find just like the guns and other police / military items? I will have to do some research to see for myself as I bet they did have "something".

edit: Ok, so far it looks like light alloys as strong as steel was not invented until after ww2. However they did have a "white plastic" that was they experimented with in ww2 (and used on d-day) for body armor that COULD be used to make a shield. However it would only be effective at all for lover velicity rounds and shrapnel.

So you could stretch this info for game logic to say it is possible, but the realism is a bit thin.

You know what? I'll retract that statement, even if those alloys weren't invented until after ww2 humanity got to 2077 before the bombs fell, so maybe there could be something manufactured like riot shields. My statement was more in response to the "reinforced trashcan lid" that someone suggested

Yes I agree with you about "trashcan lid" shields.

But just to follow up, the more research I do the more I am confident that the technology to make a shield that could be used to stop at least MOST used bullets of the time was indeed technologically possible. They did a lot of testing and design for body armor using a variety of materials so that it would be light enough but strong enough. The United States developed a vest using "Doron Plate", a fiberglass-based laminate. These vests were first used in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945.

The problem always seems to be that they are too uncountable and harder to move fast in. Making a shield would side step that somewhat but also reduce the effectiveness (compared to body armor).

I guess that it may the be inconvenient hotkeys rather than dual-wielding itself that irritated me.

That mod sounds like a good one for me, and so does your Intelligent Spell Unequipping. I downloaded them both. It may be a long while before I play Skyrim again, but hopefully I will remember to check my downloads folder when I do. Thanks for sharing.
