Dubstep

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 1:04 am

One of my friends turned me onto dubstep and I'm really starting to get into it however I cant really seem to find exactly what I'm looking for on youtube. I'm looking for some fast pace stuff with lots of bass, like high energy stuff. Any suggestions?

Sounds like drum and bass, which I've been listening to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SL0TSQkItzg lately. Mainly cause the video is pretty good.

For dubstep, maybe...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9Z97CiikgQ

Maybehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F21aifX0lZY

An example to go off of would be nice.

This sums it up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qciVXUHTN10#t=31m08s

The first time you hear it it's like "oh, that was a somewhat dark and interesting sounding song" and then you realize it's an entire genre defined by the fact that it all sounds the same and can't be danced to gracefully, thereby equalizing everyone who is intoxicated enough to move in the exaggerated, ridiculous gestures necessary to match the music at stereotypical social gatherings.

Pretty much this is my opinion as well. So far nothing linked sounds like the "dupstep" I have heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFu2DfPDGeU is the first thing I heard of it and it all sounds the same with the WUB WUB WUB WUB bass sound.

More into Grime than Dubstep, but I listen to a few dubstep artists too, like Chase & Status, Sub Focus, and The Qemists.

No.

That's not dubstep either.

Dubstep originated in Britain and is characterised by a roughly 140 bpm tempo with the snare on the third beat of every bar, distorted 'wobbly' basslines and syncopated breakbeat drum patterns. In recent years a lot of pop and mainstream acts have jumped on the dubstep bandwagon. It's become a mainstream genre in its own right now, same as what happened with house music.

Dubstep is not generally fast. If your looking for fast look into Hardstyle, drum and bass etc...

I'm personally not really into dubstep and the more intense stuff really irritating but I o know many people who do like it.

The man asked for fast paced, energetic dubstep. What do you want from me?

I don't want anything from you, I was just pointing out that that particular track was house music, not dubstep.

If he wants faster, high-tempo music then as has been pointed out he needs to check out drum and bass, hard house, hard trance, hardstyle etc.

This is dubstep, from the same guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw It's got a commercial edge to it but that bassline is pure filth

My fav dubstep artists are Datsik, Excision, borgore, vaski, etc.
If you're looking for fast paced then try borgore- Saturday nights or love
btw love has a gay 43 second [censored] intro but after that it's rly good.
Also check out UKF's tutorial on dubstep =)

Probably a little more DnB than Dubstep, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN5wo-NYLwU fits your description for what kind of song you wanted.

http://lapfox.bandcamp.com/track/raatid-fiah-nice-up-ravestep-remix, I really like this, also check out the Vile Vulture OST on the right of the site. Other than the 2nd song, the rest are just amazing.

Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCcaizeVwho to the song Heartbreak by M'Black (remix by Bare Noize). This song got me into Dubstep.

Witchcraft is a nice DnB-track in general, but this remix... Yikes! It's not pure dubstep, but give it a try =)

It builds up until 1:39, so don't lose patience! :goodjob:

I love this. Not sure if it meets people's definition of dubstep, but I don't really care.

Btw, if you like Modestep and/or want to find about more Dubstep/DnB I suggest downloading http://www.ukfmusic.com/pages/podcast/archive podcasts

What I did was just download them, hear them and then search the ones I liked and expand from there, I was very bored :P
