Dude, where's my horse? : IV

I cannot find the horse Jauffrey gave to me at Wydon (sic) Priory. I know I have it stabled somewhere, but I can't remember where. Any tips on how to find it?

Try fast-travel somewhere and the horse usually appears

I have this problem too from time to time when my horse is just nowhere to be found. I bought it in Bruma and when I return there I get a message saying my horse is back at the stables.
I′ll look around and see if I can dig up something useful

EDIT: The only thing I found was this; If a horse you own wanders off, it usually makes its way back to the stables where you bought it or where it was given to you.

So try go back where you got it and it may be there

Have you got the GOTY edition or KOTN?

What I haven't understood: if you ride to a town X and unmount from horse at a stable, are you supposed to mark some contract with the owner or do what in order that it stays there until you catch it up again?

No, but make sure to close the gate

I guess when enough time has elapsed, the horse wanders off. It doesn′t do that immediately

I may be wrong here as none of my characters use horses... but could'nt it have been a case of it dying due to the dreaded... ATTACK OF THE MUDCRABS???

Fast Travel to a city, then check its stables. If it's not their, check Wynon Priory. If not there, he might be dead. In my game, it sometimes hangs out in the stables in Cloud Ruler Temple, check there too.

If nowhere, there is a mod available with the same name as this topic that puts a quest marker on your horse, so you'll never lose it.

I lost mine a while back in the middle of a fierce battle. Eventually you should be able to afford one, if not you can try the unicorn or just get Shadowmere after progressing in the Dark Brotherhood.

Unless your horse is Essential (like Shadowmere), it can die on the way back to it's stable from where you left it. You don't get any messages that I know of, the horse just disappears.
