duel wielding bows

Unless the perk is sprouting extra arms like Mehrunes Dagon, it's not physically possible. And GI already confirmed that bows do significantly more damage.

OK guys, when you use a bow you are dual wielding already. You handle the bow with one hand and the arrow with the other :P.

A perk, or a passive ability you acquire when you reach a certain level. Nothing to do with "duel wielding" though. Say a master marksman could shoot 3 arrows, 4 max. But I doubt that'll happen since apparently they really souped up the damage and range of the bow.

Honestly, the only thing unrealistic about dual wielding crossbows is resetting with only one hand. I'm sure they could cook up some Dwemer magical mechanical engineering contraption that would make crossbows semiautomatic allowing for dual wield, but will they? Not sure. Besides, even if we find a way to make it realistic, I'm not sure if it would be practical..

Crossbows probably weigh too much to aim half-well in one hand as well. Although if they're a clever Dwemer invention for reloadings sake, they might also be light enough to get round that. I wouldn't completely hate it, but it's basically just a novelty that could turn out cool.

For bows, again I don't hate the idea of firing two arrows, but on this count I don't think it should have anything to do with dual-wielding - neither equipping two bows nor two quivers of arrows. It should just be a perk you can unlock with marksman, if it's included at all - which again makes it a potentially cool novelty feature.

Only way this would work is with small crossbows that reload themselves. And that'll only work if they bring those beauts back.

I'm dual-wielding hand crossbows with an extradimensional (read: magic) autoloader that can shoot multiple bolts simultaneously in a semi-circle. The bolts are rigged to explode upon piercing an enemy's flesh or armour.

My extradimensional pocket gives me an excuse for freeing up my other hand AND allowing me to shoot more than one bolt at the same time: as opposed to somehow splitting the bolt, it shoots out of the pocket. Nebulous "It's magic" excuse, go!

I'm just going to leave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WByqPqwBrzs here then. Mmmmm, multishot.

This is something that would work better as a perk. If it worked at all. How would you aim it at a single target without wasting an arrow?

If only there was something big and wide. Like the side of a barn or maybe a dragon. . . There won't be dragons in this game will there :P

I am just poking fun.

My apologies to Eldest Scroll. That is possible, however, Devs will need to get am archer capable of doing that, and the bow can be held in different ways, like horizontally, for that two work.

And dual wielding small crossbows would he sick too right?

However, now bows will be slower. Granted i don't think that people use marksman for speed.

I assumed when you dual wield bows you have a bow in each and, and you simply nock the arrows and pull the strings of both simoltaniously and fire with your teeth.

Well that would be the logical solution. :teehee:

Maybe the topic should be different?

Maybe you should read posts and not just the title?

Logic dictates that the power for each arrow in such configuration as suggested would be half its value from that when being fired alone. Not especially effective against armour in other words.

More projectiles need more power.

I agree, but I also agree the thread should be titled differently.

How would you draw the arrows if your hands are full....just saying. I like what people are saying about 2 arrows though.

I think it'd work if it they spread out far enough that it was more a case of hitting two guys in a group as supposed to one guy twice.

This doe raise the question of what the offhand attack would be when using bows. Presumably there will be two attack buttons for dual wielding weapons. When using a bow then one attack button would nock the arrow and draw the string, then the other attack... could maybe... just stab someone with the arrow??

There is no offhand when wielding a bow... it would be treated the same way as a two-handed weapon.

The more arrows you add the less accuracy you get but the better area effect you have.. couple this with some magic or alchemy glass vile arrows and Boom splat! It should be an awkward set up to preform. To the point where the more arrows you pull the more chance you'll just drop them all and fail like the fool you are.

okay if you weren't turned off by the title,
don't you think it would be cool if instead of duel wielding bows, you would instead just shoot two arrows and do double damage?
what do you think?

I must first say that you used the Door-in-face technique quite well in the thread title, well done. Compared to duhttp://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/dual.htmll wielding bows, shooting multiple arrows seems more than acceptable. Giving archers some kind of multishot ability/perk would be very cool. While it isn't realistic (or even possible?) it has been a staple of many fantasy games and it would add some depth that is sorely missing from the marksman skill.

I thought the "shoot two arrows at once" idea was pretty dumb, then I found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE7A_4M7OqQ. It doesn't look half bad.

I think it would be sweet fir close rang high damage, optional of course you'd still need single shot for those sniper shots.

Ohhh two different magic arrow at the same time, snazzy
