duel wielding bows

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:34 am

okay if you weren't turned off by the title,
don't you think it would be cool if instead of duel wielding bows, you would instead just shoot two arrows and do double damage?
what do you think?

Considering dual wield is (as far as we know) not something you unlock, I don't see how and when you'd trigger this as opposed to just using one arrow? Besides they've already made bows to a lot more damage, which is fine by me

So, not duel wielding bows, but the arrows? Ya, that'd be find. Though, accuracy might go down a bit, and you'd have to be half decent with marksman before you got that perk.

I think it would be cool if we could shoot two arrows, and it would raise the damage but lower the accuracy. I doubt that'll happen though.

Yeah change the title to "Fire 2 Arrows with 1 shot" or something. It would be an excellent high level perk.

Unless the perk is sprouting extra arms like Mehrunes Dagon, it's not physically possible. And GI already confirmed that bows do significantly more damage.

I have to say, it seems a bit over-the-top to me. As previously said, you should experience a significant drop in accuracy, at least.

As a perk, I'd rather have some way to increase the speed of shooting the arrow.

It'd be cool to fire multiple arrows at a time... I thought you meant use two bows at once...

Do you know how bows are fired? This is very possible you just hold one arrow between the index finger and middle finger, and the other between the middle finger and ring finger. As for damage balancing maybe you can't use it while sneaking. They did say that bows would be powerful enough for SNEAKY characters to kill in one hit, implying sneak attack. Also maybe the arrow speed is reduced or something so arrows don't go as fast.

No. Impossible. Try to dual wield bows. You will fail. Perhaps a 'perk' for overextending the bowstring but not two bows. Just doesn't work. Crossbows with some sort of ammo clip, maybe, but then we are getting into fallout with swords territory.

OP says two arrows not two bows. Read the post. :)
too slow.

Anyway. It is possible why not. I watched too many cheesy movies with those kind of stuff. Maybe trying it myself would be better.

Sounds like a nice perk. How would you do it controller wise.Hold down both buttons, or maybe you can have the left button cycle threw your different tick shots. You know they will have more then on.

It'd be cool if you could hold your bow sideways and then fire off multiple arrows in a horizontal spread, like the "Barrage" skill in Guild Wars. Would probably be best left as a temporary ability or something, though.

Now if we had crossbows on the other hand...we could really dual wield.

I personally wouldn't like it and it's not probable I'd use it...but have it your way.

Hmmm. I admit I had some though along these lines... ^_^ *sigh* So so cool I don't even care about the over-the-top-ness. But I don't see how it could be implemented : you'd need two crosshairs, no ? It could be done for a controller, but how do you adapt that for PC ?

But, wouldn't the power behind both arrows be divided according to Newton's Third Law of Motion? Both arrows would move slower and with less momentum if fired at the same time. The only reason it would be feasible would be if the game featured a highly comprehensive combat system complete with wounds and bleeding. Then two arrows wouldn't do more damage, but would increase dps from blood loss since there is more than 1 wound. The other application would be hitting multiple enemies in a crowd at once. Considering how quickly you would run out of arrows, and how there wouldn't be any increased burst damage, I fail to see how it would be overpowered.

It'd be an interesting perk, all right. And probably one that in all likelihood we'll get. Double arrows are a pretty common fantasy trope.

But, as far as actual dual-wielding goes, I wouldn't mind having two crossbows at once. Wildly unrealistic, but just oh-so-cool.

Honestly, the only thing unrealistic about dual wielding crossbows is resetting with only one hand. I'm sure they could cook up some Dwemer magical mechanical engineering contraption that would make crossbows semiautomatic allowing for dual wield, but will they? Not sure. Besides, even if we find a way to make it realistic, I'm not sure if it would be practical..

This is something that would work better as a perk. If it worked at all. How would you aim it at a single target without wasting an arrow?

Dual means two. Duel is something you do with swords.
