Duel Wielding Shields?

There are really more important things for the devs to be worrying about. This would just look ridiculous.

I doubt Bethesda will sit and make code just to forbid you to dual wield shields (because, since each hand is equipped individually, that's what it would probably take for dual wielding shields to not be possible)

From there on, I just can't see what people like in that thought. But more power to them. Weird use of the word hardcoe though..

They also won't code in the ability to use a shield as a weapon. So, dual shields = lots of blocking, that's it.

I don't think you could block with two shields at the same time. Would seem pretty useless besides some extra defense.

Shield bashing is in. The main question is whether shield bash does any damage (however small that may be) or only stuns or something.

Because there are no spears, I will instead use two shields. If I can't, them I'm coming for YOU, Todd Howard.

Didn't they say we could shield bash by holding down the block button? It might actually be an effective to semi-effective way of fighting. Maybe if you happened to find the Spellbreaker and Auriel's Shield before you get any good weapons.

It is? Is it actually shield bashing, or is it like in Oblivion where it just automatically happens when the enemy hits you? Because I would still count that as blocking.

If I remember it right, they said you hold the button and it does shield bash. But I don't think anyone explained whether it does damage or only pushes back/stuns etc. So that's a pretty big detail missing there hehe

Using 2 small shields could work, especially if they are modified to be used as weapons (sharpened edges, spikes, what-not). It could work with slower swing times and lower damage potential but with an increased defensive capacity.

I think dual (as contrasted to "duel," mind you) wielding shields should be included....

...if, and only if, it's coupled to an achievement that takes a screenshot of of you when you do it and posts it online with a caption like "Hey y'all, hold mah mead and watch this!" :D

There are some points in life where you just have to say "[censored] common sense", and punch people with shields.

I vote yes.

hahaha. I like the way you think :teehee:

Two shields xD that would look kinda lame, and not very practical in battle.

I can imagine a crazy nord guy rushing into battle with two bucklers (with spiked edges), tackling a guy, then stabbing him repeatedly with them..

It would expand our gameplan choices and that's what skyrim seems to be aiming for :D

Yeah it would but it would just be stupid, I rather not

My thoughts exactly! afterall, it could go under the hand to hand skill as Viking warriors actually did use a shield/buckler w/ edges in each hand at times.

I was thinking more along the lines of Khador's Kodiak and Devestator Warjacks from the Iron Kingdoms

two spiked bucklers. One has reflect damage 10% the other has reflect spell 10%. Given a decent damage for the spikes it could be useful. Could make casting restore health spells difficult now that we need a hand free to cast spells, though. I kind of depend on my restore health spells.

Haha "Breaking Immersion" seems to be a big topic on this forum now. So much so that people seem to just say it about anything they disagree with.

How would the ability to equip two shields break someone's immersion into the game? If anything, it seems like if you clicked on a second shield and it was like "Nope, you're not allowed to do that. It's impossible to hold two shields in real life.", that would be a little more 'immersion-breaking'.

That being said, I don't care.

Quite possible to wear two shields at once in real life so it would not break immersion, however like in real life it makes very little sense.
I can see one and only one setting where it makes sense, you are attacked but is unable to strike back because you can not or will not kill the attacker because it would require a weapon you don't have, is a NPC you can/ will not hurt or something like a dart trap. Her two shields will increase your armor rating.

whats so much different between dual shields and spiked knuckles on each hand? we arent specifically talking about tower shields here...maybe bucklers in each hand or small square shields to induce blunt force deaths.
